It all started six months after we rebuild the ATLAS Corporation. Gideon and Mitchell were in charge, and I was a Major, leading a group of "young guns" on a mission to California International Prison, or code name Riot, since riots have happened there before. Anyways, my squad and I were sent out to check out some KVA movement there. Suddenly, Manticore bombs came in. For those of you who don't know what a Manticore is, it's basically a mini nuke, packed with a gas that does something unknown to me.
But now I know.
I'll never forget that moment, where I told everyone to hit the deck. It was scary for me, since I never thought I would see Dawn again. Everything got wiped out; armories, exos, you name it. We were dead in the water. Even more so when Sergeant Egan saw the first one. Then Private Laskey. Then Corporal Holt. It was a bad fight. They took Laskey immediately. Egan put up a bit more of a fight, but he became one of them. It was me and Holt, against a thousand of those things. One got Holt's leg, and I had to leave him. I remember running for my life as they chased me to the LZ, and almost jumped into the Warbird. Gideon was there, but one took him. He told me the thing was global, and I didn't believe him.But it was.
