{Lucy's P.O.V}

Giving birth had to be, hands down, the most painful experience of my entire life.

Imagine being burning up, but having chills. Imagine twenty bones slowly fracturing simultaneously.

And most of all, imagine the feeling of being ripped in half, slowly.

That about sizes up my situation.

"Just a little more Lucy, you're doing fantastic." The doctor assured me, though I had no way of talking back, for my teeth were grit to tightly I'm surprised one of them didn't chip.

Natsu was right beside me, allowing me to grip his hand that no doubt had a bruise from my vice like grip. He softly stroked my hair, though at that moment I sought no comfort from it.

"Okay, one more push, just one more." The doctor assured, though I had already felt like passing out, and honestly didn't know if I could even muster one more push.

The hospital gown I was wearing had stuck to my sweat caked body, and I was taking light, quick breaths. besides those reasons, panic had settled into my heart a few months back when I got an examination and found out that our baby wasn't strong physically or mentally.

When I first received that news, my heart felt like shattering, and I broke down right there on the examination table, not caring how many doctors or nurses witnessed.

I had always imagined my baby to the strong willed like their father, though I had secretly hoped that our child took after me in the respect of writing. Me and Natsu had tossed around a few names, though none seemed to fit, until we found one, and it was perfect.

If it was a girl, she was to be named Nashi Grace Dragneel.

Searing pain, far further than any other I had felt so far, cascaded over my body, ripping me out of my thoughts. I couldn't help the scream that ripped through my sore throat, and Natsu winced as I cried out.

The doctor urged me to push one last time, and even though the edges of my vision were darkening by the minute, I mustered up every last shred of strength I had left, then pushed.

My painful scream echoed off the walls, and I closed my eyes tightly to endure the shredding pain.

As my cry died out, another replaced it, a smaller, weaker cry. Natsu's hand loosened on mine, and the nurses placed a small bundle of pink blanket in his arms. As I took deep, even breaths to recover from the last few painful hours, Natsu took a seat beside me on a small wooden stool.

Since I was already in a slouched position, I could see the face of our newborn perfectly. Though when she was placed in my arms, I had never felt such joy in my entire life.

She had stopped crying, and now softly cooed in the warm blankets, her chocolate brown eyes lazily blinking. Her complexion was pale, most likely matching mine, though her soft baby skin had a pink tint to it. Her little lips were slightly puckered, and they were full and pink.

I couldn't help myself, and I softly pushed back the blanket, uncovering a small portion of her head. I smiled, then nudged Natsu, who hadn't taken his eyes off of her either.

"Look Natsu, she has her Papa's hair." I softly cooed, and sure enough, a small little feathering of pink hair was cropped on her head. I sniffled, holding my newborn closer to my chest, the past hours seemingly fading away in a memory.

"She's perfect..." Natsu spoke up, his voice also low and soft. He kissed my temple, then we both watched as our baby girl slowly fell asleep in a peaceful slumber.

A soft knock on the door broke me and Natsu out of our thoughts, though Natsu was the first to softly mumble. "Come in."

Levy peeked in first, then I also saw Juvia, Gray, Gajeel, Wendy, Mira and Erza. I smiled and motioned for them to come in, and Levy approached my side first, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Lu-chan... She's beautiful." Levy said in awe, than took a seat on the edge of the bed. I changed my position, then smiled at Levy.

"I'm sure she wants to be held by her Godmother." I assured, and Levy's eyes streamed a few tears before she opened her arms to receive Nashi.

She slowly cradled her, then placed a kiss on her forehead before handing her back to me, and Nashi slowly stirred at the movement.

"Soon she'll have someone to play with Lu-chan." Levy winked, and though everyone else, including Gajeel, was confused, I immediately caught what she was saying.

I gasped and ushered Mira over to the bed where I passed her the baby before enveloping my best friend into a hug. "That's amazing Levy-chan!" I squealed as she hugged me.

Mira was the next one to figure it out, along with Wendy and Juvia, and they both squealed, though not loud enough to wake up Nashi.

Erza had seemed to catch on when I did, and now she was chuckling at the boys who still had no idea what Levy was saying.

And next, was the father himself.

Gajeel began stuttering and his ears turned bright pink before Levy went over and tugged him down into kiss.

We all laughed at Gajeel's demeanor, and then the room had settled down once again.

Later that night, after Nashi had been fed and burped, I slowly rocked her in a rocking chair off to the corner of my new room, where I would be staying for a bit until I had completely recovered.

I hummed a soft lullaby to my baby, who, no matter how many times I sang or rocked her, was wide awake. Her eyes stayed locked on mine, and I softly kissed her little forehead before going to my last resort, a song my mother would sing to me.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine

You make me happy, when skies are grey

You'll never know dear, how much I love you

Please don't take, my sunshine away.

The other night dear, as I lay sleeping

I dreamt I held you in my arms

When I awoke dear, I was mistaken

So I hung my head and cried."

As she fell into slumber, I kissed her forehead once more before sleep tugged at me as well.

"Welcome to the world my darling Nashi."
