Resaman have lived in Delhi most of her life. But in her years here she has never been able to find a single soul she could actually 'want' to be with. She thought that maybe her expectations were too high. But she also knew that every woman deserved to be treated like a queen and she wasn't any less than one. Setting high standards proved to be a big advantage in a lot of situations, she could easily sail past creeps and 'bad boys' who were up to no good. She was there when a lot of her friends were heartbroken when some boy decided to throw it all away. She knew she had to wait a long time till she could properly trust someone to be in a stable and positive relationship.
She didn't think of that a lot anyway. Only in some fleeting moments was she reminded of the absence of a partner. But she had her girlfriends to hang out with. She thought that enjoying the moments she spent with her friends was more important than fretting over her dating life.
She studied in a college in Delhi. She was enjoying her academic life and the friendships she had formed over the years. One day during class one of the professors had an announcement to make. She said, " Girls we have a golden opportunity you wouldn't want to miss. As we all know this semester is going to end within a few days and the new one will start soon after your break. For the next semester, one of you will have the opportunity to attend the student exchange programme by the University College London, and we will be receiving a student from there as well. In order to participate in the selection, you will have to submit an article on any topic of your choice and the best two will be selected after which an interview will be conducted and the best of the two will be chosen to attend the semester at the University College London. Best of luck ladies!"
Resaman thought over this opportunity, she was unsure if she'd get selected because there was another girl in her class who was a very good writer and the odds were not in her favour. She believed that probably this was a shot at breaking the monotony of her life, an exciting new change for a semester. Her chance at an adventure in an unknown land.
So she sat at her desk in front of her laptop and sat thinking about what she could write about. After a while she came up with a topic, she was going to write how everyone deserves a chance at adventure in life even if it was for a while. And she knew it was true and in some ways it reflected herself. She loved the life she had here, but she was ready for a change. She was keen to go out of her comfort zone. And so she tapped away. Deleting a few parts, editing a few sentences and adding her thoughts and ideas as it popped up. It was almost 3 A.M when she finished her piece and clicked send with hope on the good faith she had in herself.

It was finally the day of the results. The Professor declared the results, " The best two articles are chosen by the department was by Claret and Keira". Resaman felt disappointed but she didn't have high hopes that she would get in.
To her surprise that wasn't the end of the announcement the professor continued, " There's a wild card entry here ladies. There was one article that caught my eye and after some deliberation, the department has decided to consider this candidate for the follow-up interview. And that article was written by Resaman. All the best to all the interviewees. The interview will be conducted the day after tomorrow, so take a day to prepare well." Resaman thanked the professor with a glance of gratitude.
On the day of the interview
Resaman had brushed up a little bit on the history and the performance of the university. She was a confident speaker so she knew that she'd ace the interview. That was one of the things she was good at. She always seized the opportunities where she could orally express her thoughts. She looked over at the other interviewees. One of them sat there with a blank face and the other one was visibly nervous. She was called and she entered the room of the interviewer. She diligently answered all the answers of the board. And the interviewer was visibly impressed. At the end of the interview they shook hands and she asked to stay back as the result would be known shortly after all the interviews were complete.
It felt like forever, but soon the representative came forth to announce the result. He said, " After some deliberation, the board has decided to select Resaman as the suitable candidate for this year's student exchange programme. All the best to the selected candidate!" Resaman felt an overwhelming sense of joy and excitement for the journey she was about to embark upon.
