Long ago,
On April 26, 2001 to be exact,
A beautiful, dark skinned baby girl
Was born in Nassau Bahamas and that is a fact.
Her name was said to be Shadricka,
But father said Heck no,
Let us call her Aaliyah.
Though her dad named her,
He did not really know her.
She became a product of a single parent family,
Yet, she lived happily.
Although she did not have much
She had a mother who was a clutch.
Her mom instilled in her that the sky was the limit,
And to never fall for any gimmicks.
A bond between a father and daughter
Is rather special.
But have you seen one with a mother and daughter?
Simply monumental.
Yes, we may have our ups and downs.
And sometimes we take a while to rebound,
She is still Aaliyah's biggest fan.
They indeed go well together, hand in hand.
Now, Aaliyah has many goals and aspirations.
Because living from paycheck-to-paycheck
Is not her destination.
She wants to be in the medical field.
Though she is unsure of the specifics
She plans to let God be the critic.
Yes, she aspires to have that strong relationship with God.
Because when it comes to making these kind of decisions
Everyone else are frauds.
Aaliyah also wants to own her own business,
Of course, she is that ambitious.
We could go on and on about her goals,
But that would take rather long,
And I do not want to impose.
But these are the main ones,
The ones that constantly burn through her lungs.
This beautiful dark-skinned lady
Has a vibe that is so wavy.
She tries to get along with everyone,
And problems, she effortlessly overcome.
Her favorite color is yellow,
Many think that is ghetto.
But yellow reminds her of hope,
that is something that cannot be revoked.
Now there came a time,
During her senior year,
Her family had no more money to spare.
This led them to become homeless,
It was totally atrocious.
Her family was separated,
But in her, a prayer life generated
Eventually, some normalcy came around.
Only by the grace of God which she found.
Therefore, she tries to remain humble,
Because you never know when you are going to fall and fumble.
From this experience, she learned to be responsible.
And that with God, nothing is impossible.
So, who is Aaliyah?
She is a 19-year-old Christian,
Who was placed on this earth to pursue a mission.
She is one that does not let the past define her,
Because she has a bright future ahead of her.
