Undercover- a Camren fanfiction

Chapter 5

A couple hours later

Lauren was in her bunk scrolling through her instagram on her iPhone. After scrolling for 5 minutes, she came across a video of Fifth Harmony's performance the other night and it showed her staring at Camila.

"I need to stop doing that" Lauren mentally said, making a note in her head.

Lauren decided to go onto Camila's instagram and 'stalk' her. She saw a picture of Camila and Austin with the caption "missing my boyyyy😩". It was hard for Lauren on the Austin Mahone tour to watch them flirt so much, also every night Camila would tell Lauren about how much she likes him. After seeing too many photos of the 2, lauren decided to put her phone down and catch up with some reading.

She picked up "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower" and started from the beginning, since she couldn't remember where she left off.

After a good 2 and a half hours of reading, a small voice spoke snapping her back into reality.

"Hello" Lauren could recognise that voice, it was Camila. Lauren put down her book and sat up a little.

"Hi" Lauren replied smiling softly.
"Can I sit?"
"Of course" Lauren said, moving up a little so Camila could sit with here.

"So, how are you?" Camila asked looking at lauren kindly.

Camila knew that Lauren used to have bad depression because of what happened a couple years ago. Lauren never talks about the situation and what happened that day because it triggers bad memories. But, Camila had always tried to comfort her in her darkest times, always being a shoulder to cry on, or someone for Lauren to shout at. Lauren would always apologise after shouting at Camila, she couldn't help it, she had no control of her emotions. All she knew is that she was hurting - hurting really bad.

"Yeah, I'm fine" Lauren replied looking away.

"I know when you aren't okay, what's up? Are you having bad thoughts?"

"Not regularly, but I still think back to that day. I still think it was my fault she-" Lauren said but Camila cut her off.

"It wasn't your fault, I promise"

"But, I'm the one suggesting we should go down to the lake. And, I could've saved her" tears rushed from Lauren's face, but she was unaware until Camila wiped it away with her thumb.

"Shh Lauren you were in shock, you didn't know what to do"

"It should've been me. I suggested it, not her. I should've been the one that drowned, not my bestfriend"

"Lauren, don't you ever say that. You weren't expecting that to happen, no one was. Sometimes, things happen and we don't know why. Life is full of unexpected events, and you never know what'll happen next. Life is a mystery that you'll never be able to solve" Camila said but stopped when she realised Lauren was heavily crying.

"I hate myself for it Camila. I fucking hate myself for it" Lauren cried out.

Camila pulled her into a huge hug and listened to Lauren's sobs against her chest. After 5 minutes of Camila stroking her friend, attempting to calm her down, Camila held Lauren's face in front of hers and said...

"Lauren, I know it's hard now, I understand. But, things will eventually get better, even when you feel like there's no chance of the pain healing, it does. You have such great friends supporting you, including me, and we will never let you feel as if you're alone. I love you so much Lauren, I'll always be here for you."

Then, Camila lightly kissed Lauren's forehead and they laid in eachothers arms in a tranquil silence until they both fell asleep.

Lauren was awoken to a text from Mr.Espinosa.

"Can you girls come to my office asap, I have big news. A jet will be coming to pick you all up in around 15 minutes time"

Lauren rubbed her eyes then replied.

"Okay sir, we'll see you shortly"

Camila moved her arm up a little so it was now resting on Lauren's chest. Lauren looked over at Camila to see she was still fast asleep. Camila looked so peaceful that Lauren wanted to leave her to rest but she knew that this was important.

"Camz, wake up" Lauren whispered, nudging the smaller girl carefully. "Psst Camila you need to wake up"

The smaller girl opened her eyes slowly and stared at lauren smiling.

"Why are you smiling?" Lauren asked now smiling at how beautiful Camila looked with her messy hair in a loose bun.

"I don't know" she simply replied.

"Well we better get up, Mr Espinosa has big news"

"Ergh i'm so comfortable" Camila groaned, covering her head with the blanket.

"Me too, but it sounds important c'mon I need to go tell the others"

Camila and Lauren got out of the bunk and went to tell the others.

After all the girls were ready the Jet came shortly after, they all took their seats, Lauren and Camila sitting next to eachother. Lauren was wondering if Mr Espinosa was going to announce who gets the promotion to be Assistant Head of the company. Being assistant head would be an amazing experience because you get to train in a top spy school where you can learn new skills. Also, the assistant head takes over from the boss of the company which is Mr Espinosa when he retires which will be soon, that's the whole reason he wants an assistant, so they can take over from him. Lauren felt a huge lump in her throat, she was really nervous now.
