Even with dating for a while, the couple hasn't been inmate as when it starts to get steamy one of them would get nervous and not want to go any further and/or just wants to stop there (and they do). Eventually they confess that their they haven't had the best experiences with sex (in a past relationship they ether were pressured into it and/or it was pretty one-sided) so they're kinda nervous even if they know they don't need to be.
