The last badge

Justin sat tying his shoes just a few hours away from a presentation night he was a little nervous tying his shoes not once but three times double and triple checking his appearance as this was an important night he was being upgraded in a sense to the next level of being a scout and assigned as a leader this meant more responsibility and he knew what that meant,easier to be judged by his peers and mentors,a bell rang not the one you would he at a school but the kind you would hear calling everyone to dinner a triangle clanging making him jump just enough time to adjust his belts nervously in the mirror all three of them and swiping up his sash covered in badges from his bunk he nods and calmly slowly exits joining Scout troops in the answer to the dinner bells call. Justin appears on a small stage like balcony his leader badge is handed to him the Scout Master Belkins was his name Belkins points and averts Justin's gaze to his troop of 20 new recruits and Justin is handed a small box Belkins proudly announces a new leader and the ultimate responsibility of a Scout all eyes go to the box Justin opens it and reveals a pocket knife emblazoned with the Fleur de lis symbol of the Scouts this had two importance meanings for him at the time not only was he receiving a knife but that this one had an age to it a memory a history it was his father's knife  father to son Belkins whispers and winks...40 years flickers by with montages of scout life before we find Justin awaking in a new setting one of a strange new world a television screen in the background announces.. buy it now your place in paradise ..heaven awaits ..Justin walks to the refrigerator and opens it to a brightness you see heaven can now be bought at a price and life  has changed
