Bakugou and Midoriya walked out of the dorms, being cautious with their steps, for they were not supposed to be up past the curfew.
They had to be cautious and ensure nobody was following them or seeing them this late out at night. Midoriya was called out here by Bakugou. There were things that needed to be discussed between the two of them. He felt reluctant to do so, but he agreed to it nonetheless.
He knew Bakugou and knew that if he wanted to have a conversation with him, it was going to be important. He noticed how he had stayed silent the whole walk there, not a single word had been said. This made him anxious, especially since they were walking a long distance away from the dorms, which, of course, was not allowed without permission.
"Kacchan, where are we going? We shouldn't be walking around in the middle of the night." He continued to stay silent, all he saw was how his shoulders would move as he walked and how stern his walk was. He tried speaking up again, but just as before, Bakugou's lips were shut.
Midoriya's mind began to wander. There could be many reasons why he is being dragged here by his old childhood friend. They haven't had a conversation in so long... He sometimes forgets how persistent he can be despite the constant bullying he has endured from him.
Regardless, he kept his mouth shut till they arrived at their destination.
Midoriya looked at his surroundings with a confused expression on his face. "You brought us to Ground Beta?" He hasn't been here in a while, not since the first day of school, since he had his first taste of hero training.
"This is the place where we had our first combat training, where I fought you and lost," he said.
This was also the place where he had used his quirk for the first time against Bakugou, where he had learned to use weaknesses as strength. He knew that day was something Bakugou was ashamed of. He avoided this place for that very reason. But his reasoning has changed, lots of things have changed.
Midoriya prepared himself for his next words. He took a deep breath as he heard him speak his next sentence.
"You know that, right Deku," he said.
"You were useless. No power at all, a joke." He always looked down on him. He had potential. At the same time, he had not even an ounce of potential or greatness.
He was the garbage he would try to dispose of.
The quirkless loser who would never amount to anything despite the support he would receive. He would always be the pathetic waste of space boy he had always known.
He turned his head slightly in his direction. He has never shown respect towards Midoriya, whenever he sees him nowadays, he can't help but feel anger, rage even. He hasn't realized how blind he has been this whole time. He wants to be a hero so badly, yet he hasn't realized how he has already failed this dream of his.
