CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

Despite being surrounded by so many people, Taphen felt alone. The one person that understood her ended things between them. Confused and sad, Taphen set out to go to perfect greens. She was sure that she would feel much better. Derrick on the other hand was sick and worried about Taphen.
''Taphen must really need me right now. I have to console her. No, I have to let her do this on her own. No... no...no, there is no way I can leave her alone,'' Derrick thought. His mind and his heart were at war. At last, he decided to go and see Taphen. He assumed she would be at perfect greens and he wasn't wrong about it. He found her there.
''Derrick, you are here,'' voiced out Taphen her eyes shining with joy. She was happy to see him.
''I will always be there for you Taphen.''
''I know that. Whenever I needed a shoulder to lean on, you were always there for me. Just like now. What more could I ask for?''
''Come here Taphi.'' Derrick gave Taphen a passionate hug and that was all Taphen wanted at a moment like that. She felt at ease and for a second, her grief and sadness left her at once.
''Derrick, do you know just how happy I feel right now?''
''I know. Do you want to always feel this way?''
''Yes, I do.''
''Then listen to me. Stephen really needs you now.''
''But...''
''No Taphen, I will talk and you will listen. You trust me, don't you?''
''I do.''
''Good. You need to give Stephen a chance. He left you because he misunderstood you and didn't want to give you a chance. So, tell me, if you refuse to hear him out just like he did, then what is the difference between you two? I will not force you but rather ask you to listen to your heart. Taphen stood still and said nothing facing the opposite direction. Without turning around, she said, ''I have listened to my heart. Do you know the very first thing I came to think of? The day that he sang me the song....''

Taphen slowly turned and in Derrick's place stood Stephen. The song soothed her heart. She looked straight at Stephen who seemed to be troubled not knowing what to expect. In a sweet and melodious voice, Taphen picked up the rhythm and Stephen just made it better and together they sang.

'Tire for your love, no. pretty girl come to me and get more. Promise I will follow when you are there, woh. Keeping all the promises I'll try, I'll try. Not for the money, no. skip a heartbeat no regrets, no. Give me a little passion all the way, woh. Doing everything for your love, for your love.'
''Taphen, I broke a promise before so this is not a joke,'' Stephen said with so much affection. Slowly, he kissed Taphen on the forehead; that was a symbol of love.
''I love you Steph.''
''I love you deeper.''
''And finally, the intricate love triangle has been resolved,'' Ameena, Geoffrey and Derrick shouted all at once in excitement as they came out of hiding.
