Pov Luna

    It was strange to be back. After everything this just seemed weird. My dad almost didn't let me come. I had been having nightmares over the summer and he noticed it changed me. I slept less and rarely interacted with other people. I missed Harry, Ginny, Neville, Ron and Hermione though. They were pretty good friends. I noticed myself being slightly jealous of Ron. I wondered why and when Hermione sat really close to me on the train, I noticed myself feeling flushed and wanting to be closer to her. It was an odd feeling. I guess I was always closer to Hermione than the others. Ron wasn't right for her. She deserved better than him. What am i thinking? Who does deserve her? My mind started to wonder. Maybe I do. It is a possibility. I shook my head. No it really isn't. She's with Ron and probably not even into girls. It would be a major long shot if I was to try to figure out if she is.

    I curled up in my four poster bed and laid my head on the pillow. The familiar feeling and smell of the bed was comforting. I sure did miss Hogwarts. My eyes started drifting closed as I fell into a dreamless sleep.

================Morning==============
Still Luna

    I woke up from my sleep and looked around. The first night was always strange. You go from sleeping in your own house to sleeping here in the matter of twenty-four hours. There were only two other seventh year girls so it quiet. They whispered to each other. Something about the daily prophet. I stopped even trying to understand the things they wrote. Quibbler was much more accurate anyways. It didn't try to cause drama and focused on facts. That may be why The Daily Prophet had more readers. People seemed to crave drama, almost like they needed it to survive. I did not. Neither did Ginny and Hermione. That's why I got on with them. Sure, at first, Hermione saw me as weird and called me Loony Lovegood. That didn't last long though. Soon we became quite good friends. Harry and I have common ground, we've both lost loved ones. Especially after last year. Everyone has that in common. It was quite sad, honestly. Most people enjoyed having things in common but this, this wasn't something you wanted to have in common.

    My mind continued to wander to random thoughts as I walked to the great hall. I was starving by the time I got there. I saw my friends sitting at Gryffindor table and joined them. It was normal for people from other houses to go to their friends at different tables. Slytherins were the only ones who didn't do that and today was no exception. Though i believe it was for different reasons. There were very few of them and most were either new or hated by the rest of the school. Like Draco, their parents had been death eaters. The difference was that Draco actually became one himself and bore the mark of one. I sympathized him though, it wasn't his fault his family were death eaters. It wasn't any of their faults in Slytherin. I sat down at Gryffindor table.

"Morning guys!" I said in a cheery voice.

"How are you so happy in the morning Luna? Aren't you tired?" Harry mumbled as he removed his glasses and rubbed his eyes. Ginny looked in awe of the brown haired boy. His morning voice was kind of attractive to be honest. Though he wasn't quite my type.

"Yeah I am a little tired I guess." I half laughed. Ron was practically shoveling food into his mouth. Hermione looked at him with a face of disgust. Then she rolled her eyes.

"Slow down before you choke, Ronald." She said in a slightly annoyed tone. I wondered if something was wrong between the two of them. Ron stopped and looked at her.

"What? Im hungry!" He exclaimed through a mouth full of food. She rolled her eyes at the red headed boy.

"Your always hungry." He smirked when she said this.

"Yeah I am." He wiggled his eyebrows at her. This time Ginny and I both rolled our eyes at him. Hermione scowled at him. He leaned in for a kiss and she pushed him back.

"Stop it." She said and he rolled her eyes. Harry was watching Ron like a hawk. It was quite strange. Normally Harry would be joining in on teasing Hermione. He didn't seem so happy with the other boy. Neville sat across from me and greeted the group. Hermione got up and moved to sit next to me. Ron huffed.

"Fine be that way." He mumbled and Harry shot him a glare.

"Did I miss something?" Neville asked. I half laughed.

"Don't worry Neville, I'm lost too." I said to the boy who smiled at me.

"Sorry guys. It's just a thing between Ron and I. How'd you guys sleep?" I looked at her and she had bags under her eyes and she looked as if she hadn't really slept.

"I slept alright." Neville said. He too had bags under his eyes and his hair was all disheveled.

"Me too. What about you Hermione? How did you sleep?" I asked the brown haired girl. She looked at me and for a second I was tempted to give her a hug but I refrained as it would look weird. I wanted to feel what i felt like to have her arms around me. I wanted to feel her warmth. I could smell her perfume and shampoo. She smelled like lavender and sandalwood. I officially loved lavender.

"I slept fine. You guys excited for classes? I was reading up on-" at that very moment Filch came running into the hall. Everyone turned to him as he ran towards the professors. McGonagall's face was hard to read but she looked kind of concerned. She turned to the other professors and stood from her seat.

"We need all students to return to their houses. Teachers, please come to my office for a...meeting. Students, stay in your houses." Her voiced quivered just slightly when saying meeting. McGonagall was never scared but I could tell she was now.

"Wanna come to Gryffindor with us?" Harry asked me. I smiled and nodded, thankful to not be alone. We made our way to Gryffindor tower. When we got there we sat by the fire. Hermione and I sat on the floor and the rest sat on chairs and the couch.

"Harry," Ginny said looking at the boy. "What do you think this is about?" She seemed worried. All of us were. We were all just in a wizarding war and we guessed death eaters wouldn't be too happy about their master being killed. This couldn't be that, could it? Harry pulled Ginny close to him. She wrapped her arms around him and placed her head on his chest. The gesture made her smile slightly.

"I don't know Gin. If its anything to serious, guys, the teachers will tell us. I mean we fought in a war, I think we are capable of whatever comes our way." He really was good at speeches. It was quite comforting to know he wasn't worried. I looked at Hermione and she was looking at her lap and messing with her fingers. It made me wanna grab her hand and hold it, but I refrained from doing so. We all sat in place and talked. Not necessarily about this, but about whatever came to mind.

==========McGonagall's Office===========

"Silence!" McGonagall exclaimed over the teachers panicked voices. It was giving her a headache. She looked around at her office. She never bothered to use the headmasters office. It just wouldn't be right, and Dumbledore had had so many trinkets and things up there that it was a mess. So she stayed in her old office. "Please everyone, calm down."

"What did Filch say to you, Minerva?" Pomona asked. Her voice made her sound like she was on the verge of tears.

"The death eaters really aren't happy right now and have taken to smaller crimes, like burning houses. They've recently shot their symbol into the sky at a muggle village just ten miles from Hogwarts. It wouldn't surprise me if they attempted to destroy Hogwarts too. They know we don't have much right now and they know it would not take much to take us down." All the teachers were silent. McGonagall was scared, to say the least. She was never scared except two other times in her life. One being just a few months ago when Voldemort had tried to take over the castle.

    The teachers devised a plan for if the death eaters did try to attack. Classes were cancelled for the day. They decided not to tell the students until there was an actual threat. They did tell them not to worry and that nothing was going to hurt them.

But the small group of students new that that wasn't necessarily true. So much could hurt them. It was only a matter of time until something happened.
