C h a p t e r
O n e

✿ clueless Asahi ✿

Asahi slipped his hands in his pockets, waiting for Daichi to arrive and unlock the gym doors. It wasn't cold yet in their hometown, but it was still before the sun had crested over the horizon, so the earth was still cold from the night. He would have messaged Ezume had it not been 6am, but Ezume was not a morning person, and she would be in a terrible mood all day if woken before 7am. Asahi fondly remembers two weeks ago when they first met. Ezume had really tried to make conversation with him, but Asahi was simply so stunned. Not only had he found his soulmate, but she was beautiful. Her hair was raven coloured, and cropped at her shoulder blades, but due to it being wet from the pool, it was a little bit shorter.

Her eyes were a curious and warm brown, but they were hardened by whatever she'd gone through in life. Her stance was confident, and even though she was smaller than him by a handful of inches, she almost seemed to be challenging him. Her voice was sharp and metallic at the beginning, and had softened slightly towards the end, but she still remaind stand-offish. She was clearly strong, a wide build and defined muscles from years of swimming and weight lifting. Her skin was tanned and already was darker because one of her grandparents was filipino. She never spent much time round her grandmother, so she didnt know tagalog, but she had learned to cook and bake from her. Asahi found that out one afternoon because he had asked why she was quite tan. Partly from constant running outside, the other genetics. Even if she wasn't his soulmate, Ezume would have been absolutely beautiful to Asahi, but the fact that they were destined for eachother made her all the more so.

Asahi was still embarrased by his reaction that day. He had, in fact himself, been the one to go meet her, but he made a fool of himself. He ended up stuttering over his words, and speaking absolute nonsense. All he wanted in the singular moment was for the world to open up and swallow him whole. But Ezume just smiled and waited for him to recollect himself, and introduce himself. They ended up exchanging numbers and going their separate ways, Asahi to volleyball practice, albiet late but Daichi was already aware why, and Ezume to go home.

My soulmate:
Istg im gonna kill the mf dog

Asahi checked the time. 6:10 am. Uh oh.

Asahi:
Uh oh, whats happened

My soulmate:
The dog junped on my bed at 6 in the goddamned morning because my mom let him in my room before going to work.

Asahi:
Well dont kill the dog...

My soulmate:
Im not going to dumbass. And dont you have vb practice?

Asahi:
Yeah, waiting on Daichi.

My soulmate:
Probably sucking faces with sugawara.

Asahi:
Omg you've literally not met them yet, you can't be saying that! D:

My soulmate:
Uhhh... you've told me enough. I didnt even have to see it and you just telling me scarred me.

Asahi:
Im sorry, i thought youd find it funny :(

My soulmate:
Dont get me wrong. I did. But ill meet these people someday and all im gonna think is how you caught them doing the deed.

Asahi:
Okay lets not talk abt this over text at 6am.

My soulmate:
Then tell them to hurry their asses up so practice can start.
