"YOU DON'T KNOW HOW WORRIED YOU HAD ME, PARIS." hermione sighed with a small smile, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye. "all of us. we were all— terrified. i love you so much, you know that?"

it was the 27th of october, 1999. a year on from the battle of hogwarts. and also paris lovelace's 20th birthday.

it had been a year on from the damage. and with voldemort dead, his deatheaters in azkaban— the british wizarding world was slowly coming to a heal.

the snow fell down on them— it was unusual for that time of the year, as most snow usually arrived in december and january, but the weather was particularly cold that year.

"aster flowers." hermione smiled weakly as she spoke in a whisper. "your favourites. for you." her hands trembled, the bunch nearly slipping through her fingers before she could give them to the brunette. "do you remember when we were thirteen? when we first sort of, met, i guess. and i had to teach you about werewolves or we'd both fail defence against the dark arts?" she sniffed with a small smile. "i never thought then, that i'd be here, seven years later. with you. but, you were the best thing that ever happened to me."

the wind whipped her red cheeks as she wrapped her red scarf around her neck again, stopping her teeth from chattering. hermione didn't know why she was crying, she just had so much love for her.

the light of the stars shone down on them, their small white rays giving off a sense of warmth as they illuminated the dark sky. it was late, and the rest of the street was asleep— the only sound being their careless whispers and the soft flickering of the street lamps.

"mrs weasley— she even prepared a birthday dinner for you." hermione chuckled softly. "it's a shame you couldn't make it." the girl took a deep breath, before kneeling down in the snow, placing the bunch of purple flowers at the gravestone. "happy birthday, my love."
