One Last Time

Dream X Reader one-shot :) Warnings: slight mention of panics and sex, but no actual NSFW

Another sleepless night, another mistake lodged into the back of her brain.

3:29 am

And all she could think about was the naked man sound asleep in her bed, all she could think about was his hands on her body, no less than an hour ago.

She told herself last time, that it would be the last time, but she knew it wasn't true, hell, the whole world knew it wasn't true.

She hated herself for letting it go on this long, for submitting to this man. For falling in love with him... She knew it couldn't happen, and yet here she was, handing out sex to him wenever he so much as looked at her.

God, all she wanted was to be with him, to wake up in the morning's next to him, and not have to avert eye contact as they got dressed. She wanted the slow, teasing mornings. With whispered 'good morning's' and soft kisses.

Every night, after the sex, she would stand in front of this mirror and tell herself, that this would be the time. She would tell him, either end it all, or maybe... just maybe, become more. Become what she's dreamed of for the last month.

But yet, every night she panicked, arms shaking, breath unsteady, tears filling her eyes. How could she manage to tell him how she feels, when she barely knows him, barely knows who he is outside of their bedrooms.

She wanted to know him though, God did she really want to know him. She wanted to know what made him laugh, what he longed for and what he loved. She wanted to know where his favorite place was, where he wanted to go. She wanted to know his friends, his family. But how could she be sure, that that's what he wanted too?

How could she put herself out there like that, when she was too afraid of getting hurt.

So, she wouldn't do it tonight, not tonight. And as she gripped the rim of the porcelain sink and tried to steady her hands, she whispered to herself, "One last time."

One. Last. Time.

And she headed back out there, ready to repeat this never ending cycle.
