New Girl Neighbor

first day of school

The alarm clock rang loudly again. Violet groaned. As she reached out to press snooze, she saw the time and realized she was late. "Oh no! I can't be late on the first day of school!" she said. She quickly got dressed, brushed her teeth and packed her bag, and went downstairs. As her mom offered her some breakfast, she quicky said "I'm in a rush mom, I don't have time for breakfast!". Her mom giggled. 

She went to the front door where Bee was waiting for her. Bee was always on time. Bee rolled their eyes and said "Really Vi? It's the first day of school and you still couldn't manage to get up on time?". Violet let out a nervous laugh. "Sorry! I was up all night watching Netflix, have you seen the new show that came out? It's so good!". "Ginny and Georgia? I started it yesterday. Abby TOTALLY has a crush on Max!" Bee said. "IKR!" said Violet. They both walked over to Liam's house because he lived right next to them. 

Liam and Violet had been best friends since they were little. Violet was also the first person that Liam came out to as FTM transgender. When Bee and Violet arrived at Liam's house, Liam laughed and said "Vi, late as usual". Violet and Bee laughed. They all walked to school together and surprisingly, they got there two minutes before the bell rang. 

They all had first block together which was geography. They walked into class and someone caught Violet's eye immediately. She had luscious brown curly hair and big beautiful brown eyes. They both made eye contact for a second and then Violet looked away, her heart pounding in her chest. Violet sat next to the pretty girl and next to her, on her other side, sat Bee. Next to Bee was Liam. The teacher started talking and introduced himself. "Hello class, my name is Mr. Wally and I will be teaching you social studies. Today we will be working in pairs and you guys will..." Violet zoned out because she was staring at the pretty girl but she zoned back in when Bee elbowed her. "...and I will be choosing the partners." Said Mr. Wally. The class groaned. 

Violet hoped that she would be paired with the pretty girl sitting next to her. Mr. Wally started naming pairs "Liam and Bee, Sandra and Mark..." Violet waited for her name to be called. "...Violet and Scarlett" Violet didn't know anyone named Scarlett but the pretty girl turned to her and said, "You're Violet right? I'm Scarlett". "Y-yea I'm Violet, but you can just call me Vi. That's what my friends call me anyways" Violet said, as she felt herself going red. "Who said we're friends?" said Scarlett. Violet had a puzzled look on her face. "I'm just messing with you!" said Scarlett with a laugh. "You can call me Scar. That's what my friends call me. Well, I don't have any friends at the moment since I just moved here but we could be friends if you want." Scarlett said with a smile. "Yea, t-totally" Violet said nervously. "Also what are we supposed to work on, I kinda zoned out" Violet said with a nervous giggle. "We have to make a powerpoint about how global warming has affected Europe in the past five years" Scarlett replied. "Ok, pretty easy" said Violet.
