I walked into school and to my lockers. Caroline, my best friend, suddenly threw me into a hug. Because our mothers are cop buddies, we are practically sisters. We've been best friends since the day we were born, which happened to be the same day. If you're wondering what happened to Elena and Bonnie, well, I talk to Bonnie every now and then, but I can't stand Elena. She's a pick-me girl.

I took my belongings from my bag and walked into class. Great Maths is something I despise, and the only thing, or should I say person, who gets me through it is Tyler Lockwood. I have had a crush on Tyler since my mother dragged me to one of the Lockwood balls and he was my dancing partner. I sat in my usual spot and noticed Tyler sitting right next to me.

"Hey Y/n, how are you?" he said as he wrote whatever the teacher assigned him to do. "Never been better!" I exclaimed, but couldn't hide the flush that rose to my cheeks. "Are you okay, y/n your face is as bright as a tomato?" he asked, concerned. "Oh, it's just really hot in here!" I exclaimed as I fannied my face. "That's odd because it's December," he shrugged. A chuckle came from the seat next to mine

I looked to see if it was Caroline, but please don't say she heard anything. That's when the hometime bell rang. "Oh, it's just really hot in here," she snidely noted. "Really, y/n, if that's your attempt at flirting, good luck." She chuckled as she said this.

"Hey care, that was mean!" I exclaimed, pouting. "Okay, sorry y/n, that was mean, but you've had a crush on him for a long time and I need this stage to progress." She said that's when Elena and Bonnie approached us. "Hey Caroline, we were all planning on going to the lake tonight; do you want to come?" Elena said this completely ignoring the fact that I was present.

"I love you, Elena, but you know I'm only going if y/n is going; she's my sister, and you're completely disrespectful to her..." I smiled as she said it, knowing she had my back. "fine care, your right, I'm sorry y/n you can come as well, I guess." she said, her face solemn. "Well, it depends; I still don't like you, but who's going?" I asked, hoping Tyler was.

That's when Bonnie stepped forward. "Oh you know just the group; Stefan , Elena and I Matt, Tyler and Caroline," I said, looking at Care. "We're in!" I exclaimed.

We'd been at the lake for 1 hour and I still couldn't bring myself to talk to Tyler. Caroline dragged me towards Tyler and Matt at that point. She began flirting with Matt, which is when Tyler and I walked away. When I turned around, I saw Caroline and Matt grinning at me.

"I have something to tell you!" We both talked. "You first, ty," I said, blushing. "What I really wanted to say was that I'm sorry if I offended you in any way." He said this, which gave me a puzzled look. "I could never hate you, Tyler, why would you think that?" I stroked his cheek.

"You've been so distant with me y/n that I was beginning to think you were mad at me!" Looking down, he said. "Oh no Tyler, the reason I've been so distant was because I like you but was too afraid to tell you." I stated that I would not make eye contact with him. That's when I noticed lips on mine. "I've liked you since our first dance, y/n!" Tyler exclaimed.
