~Present Day~

In a dark room within Wayne Manor in Gotham City, a boy with disheveled black hair and deep emerald eyes sat up in his bed, a cold sweat trickling down his forehead. 'Dammit' he thought, recalling the nightmarish memory that his mind decided to remind him of. Looking over to his bedside table, he grabbed his phone to check the time, the harsh light from the screen glaring at him as it read '03:13 AM'.

Laying back down, he stared at his bedroom ceiling before cursing under his breath and deciding to get up to take a cold shower, not caring how early it was. After he was done, he came out of his bathroom in a clean pair of grey sweatpants and a long sleeve, blood red shirt. Walking over to his walk-in closet, he opened a hidden panel on the floor in the back corner and looked at its contents.

Inside the little space he had created under the floorboards, there were two wooden boxes and a sheathed dagger with a green jewel on the end. Wrapped around the handle of the dagger was a leather string with two little keys on it. Pulling out all of the items he closes off the space and takes the three objects, gently placing them on his desk, turning on the little desk lamp so he can see better. Unwrapping the string from the dagger, he takes the two keys and opens the two boxes.

Starting with the deeper, redder, box with a small decorative gold flower design on the lid, he carefully pulls out its contents and examines them. There wasn't much in the box as it belonged to his sister Dahlia and he couldn't save much of her belongings before Ra's, their grandfather, destroyed everything that was hers. All he had left was her dagger, a decorative gold arm band, a red stringed good luck bracelet to match his black one and a singular picture of the two of them when they were four years old.

Sitting at his desk he caressed the picture gently, trying to picture what she might've looked like if she were still here with him. Unable to handle looking at the items for much longer, he put them away and locked the box, leaving the dagger out since it didn't fit inside. He moved onto his own box that contained his own copy of the picture, a black stringed good luck bracelet that matched his sister's red one, a pair of blue sapphire earrings, a gold ring that belonged to his grandfather, and a small, old leather sketchbook.

Flipping through the book, he saw some of his old sketches, and a few that had been done by Dahlia when she'd managed to steal it from him. He cringed slightly, seeing how bad the two used to be at drawing, and closed it. He was ready to put everything back in its hiding spot, when the light of his desk lamp brought the earrings to his attention.

"I guess it wouldn't hurt," he sighed quietly as he picked them up, fiddling with them slightly as he got a good look at them, memorizing every little detail before putting them on.

Locking up his own box, he wrapped the leather string with the keys on it back around the dagger's handle and took the objects of his childhood back to his closet, and hid them back under the floorboards. Checking the time again, he found it was 03:58 AM and decided to try to get at least a couple more hours of sleep before morning training and school.

Damian had just returned home, and his siblings were all out of the house, leaving just him, his pets, and the family butler, Alfred Pennyworth. Having finished all his homework, he grabbed one of his sketchbooks and a few pencils, and sat down in the main living room, his Great Dane, Titus, laying next to him on the couch. He sketched drawing after drawing, not thinking much of what, or who, it was he was drawing until his oldest brother Dick asked a question.

"She's pretty little D', who is she?" Damian flinched slightly at the sudden voice coming from behind him. Having been drawn out of his thoughts, he looked down at his sketchbook to see his sister Dahlia. Quickly slamming the book shut, he grabbed his things and tried to leave. "Dami! Where are you going?" Dick tried to follow when Damian ran into a coffee and sleep deprived Tim.

"Hey, watch it demon spawn," he snapped tiredly before moving around him and disappearing somewhere. Damian didn't care though as he ventured back to his room, Titus, and his cat, Alfred, not far behind. "What was that about?" Tim asked Dick once Damian was gone.

"I don't know, I saw him drawing some girl, and I asked him about it, and that happened," the man gestured in the general direction of which his youngest brother left, unsure how to explain what happened.

"Maybe she's important to him or something?" Tim wondered aloud, looking down into his favorite coffee mug, "I'll be in the kitchen getting more coffee." and with that, he left. The two brothers are silently curious, but not yet curious enough to investigate.

There were a few more small incidents, in which his brothers or one of the girls would comment on, such as more drawings of Dahlia, and his black string bracelet that appeared out of nowhere. There were also his sudden all night training sessions, and the small dagger with a green gem, that his undead brother, Jason saw him sharpening the one day.

While some wouldn't admit it, most of his family were getting worried about the ex-assassin. They'd try talking to him about things, and did their best to get him to open up, but nothing worked. Each time they asked him a personal question, or more specifically about the girl in his drawings, he'd either shut down and leave or he'd snap at them more aggressively than he usually did.

But one day, they finally got an answer to their question, only for it to leave them with even more.
