They sat on a long bridge, the sun careening towards the ground at a slow pace, producing the orange and purples that painted the sky. The locals called it the 'Bridge of Heroes!', but it was really just 'The Bridge'. Apparently, multiple failed villain attacks occurred on this very bridge, thus earning it its name. They were holding hands, snacking on popsicles. The short haired one, Myo, was biting his blackberry ice. The long haired one, Mya, was licking her blue raspberry one.
Mya turned to her white haired brother, narrowing her eyes at him. Her still developing 4-year old mind was unsure of what was happening, but she could feel some weird buzzing coming from their twin.
Myo turned to his white haired sister, licking the bit of melted popsicle off of the stick. "Your eyes are blue raspberry color.", he commented out of nowhere, which was weird for her usually silent sibling.
She looked him dead in the eyes, "No. They're black. Like momma's.", then she looked closer at her brother, "Oh. Yours are blackberry colored."
The young boy glanced at his empty popsicle stick, then back up to his sister's gaze. "...Is that our quirk?"
Her eyes widened, "We're four!", she exclaimed. "It-it is when we get quirks!"
Myo nodded slowly, "Yeah."
She raised her hands up to her face, placing them on her cheeks, "Do our eyes match the color of the food we eat? Is that our quirk?"
The boy shrugged, standing up and dusting off his pants. "Maybe." he held his hand out, to which his sister took.
As they held their hands together, an energy began striking around their hands.
"No. That is not our quirk.", the young boy deadpanned.-------
A young white-haired boy sat on the stairs, his attention fully focused on the spider spinning a web in the corner of the mildew-smelling home.
"Myo!", a voice called out.
The boy turned his attention below him, revealing his grinning sibling. "I have an idea!", she began as she walked up the stairs and plopped next to him. "What if we ran away?" she turned to her brother.
"Why?", he asked, as he stared at the multiple bruises dotting his legs.
She looked at him, then at his legs. "That's why. I looked it up on the internet and apparently it's not nice for your mom to give you bruises."
He nodded, "I can't imagine it would be. It hurts."
She furrowed her brows, "Then why don't we... run away? I mean, we could just jump away, y'know?"
He shrugged, "Probably." He glanced at the calendar that was hanging on the stairwell wall, circled in blue pen was 'Myo's birthday! <3', written by his sister. "Hey, stupid."
"Hm?", she leaned her head against her brother's shoulder.
"We have the same birthday." he stroked her hair.
"I know. But it's weird to write my birthday on the calendar, y'know?" she grinned.
"You say 'y'know' too much." he ruffled her hair, making it stick up all over the place.
"Do I?" she brushed her hair back into place.
"Yeah." he sighed, standing. "Lets run away."
She stood, grinning. "Yeah!"-------
They hopped out onto the grass, the energy enhancing their legs making the long fall feel like nothing at all. Mya sighed, "That was easier than expected."
Myo narrowed his eyes, "Don't jinx it."
The white-haired girl rolled her eyes, "Yeah, yeah."
They ran through the decrepit neighborhood filled with trailer houses and nearly collapsing one story homes. The roads varied from pothole-filled asphalt to just dirt, making it easy for them to not make too much noise as they made their way to the glowing city lights.
"Hey.", she whispered into her brother's ear, "Why don't we just... leap?"
"Leap?", he asked.
"Yeah! Like, leap like a kangaroo. Pretty sure that'd be faster than walking." she grinned.
He shrugged, "Sure."
It was, most definitely, faster. They quickly made it to the alleyways of the outer city, allowing them to be more out of sight. Though, they had never been in the city so they had no clue where they were. All of the neon signs and glowing windows were overwhelming.
They hopped up on top of a building to take a quick rest. Mya pulled out two granola bars from her bag, handing one to her brother.
"Thanks.", he murmured as he ripped open the packaging.
They sat on top of the roof for a good five minutes before the pair decided it'd be best if they continued going. Mya took her brother's hand, smiling reassuringly as they plummeted to the concrete below.
