Once Mitra was done taping the box, she wrote her name on it. She did not want the movers to get confused with her as well as husband…. No! Soon to be ex-husband’s box.

Picking up the box, she entered the living room and froze in her tracks when she saw Surya. She did not expect him to be here in the house. When he sensed her presence, Surya turned to look at her. It had been three weeks since they had last seen each other. And on that last day, they had another fight which ended with Mitra asking for a divorce.

Now, as Mitra stared at Surya’s dark eyes, she didn’t know what to say to him.

“Mitra” Surya called her gently. He did not want a divorce because he loved her and did not know how to convince her to give their marriage another chance.

Mitra and Surya had fallen in love in college and got married, after both of them started earning. Life was good but lately, Surya’s work was more important to him then his wife. He would forget all important days, stay late, and miss out family functions. Mitra had started feeling lonely and it had gotten up to a point that she would get angry on minute things. Then the fights started and soon they were no longer in love.

But Mitra was still in love with Surya and would always love him. She was hurt and she had too much pride to admit that to him. She looked at Surya, who too was packing his stuffs because they were about to sell the house they had build together.

The doorbell rang and Mitra went to answer it.

She let out a loud scream when she saw two strange creatures standing outside.

“Mitra” Surya came rushing and caught her before she could fall on the ground. “Yake… AMMA” Surya yelled and pulled Mitra towards him to protect her from these bony creatures, who looked like dressed up human skeleton.

“Bhoota” Mitra said terrified.

“No… not ghost” Surya whispered. “Alien” he said out loud because the two creatures looked like the aliens from sci-fi movies.

“NASA call madu” Mitra cried clutching a fistful of his shirt. “Call-call NASA”

“I don’t have their number” he mumbled stepping back while the aliens entered their house.

“Mummy…” Mitra gasped when the female alien, who wore a sixteenth century English maid outfit looked at her. “ISRO… ISRO call madu. It’s in our city.”

“Hedarabedi… Navu nimage yenu madalla” the male alien who was wearing sun glasses told them.

Mitra and Surya’s mouth dropped open, when the aliens spoke in Kannada, their native language. The male alien told them not to be scared.

“Kannada?” Mitra said doubtfully. “Aliens know Kannada?”

“We also speak English” the female alien said. “British English, American English and even your English”

“Did she just mock our accent?”

“Me thinks so too” Mitra breathed out.

“Why are you here?” Surya dared to ask.
