In the dimly lit potions classroom were Ron and Hermione. It was quite quiet with no one else in there. The Gryffindor's were finishing up quidditch practice and most of the other students were already in their common rooms or just hanging around in the castle. From the cold air in the dungeons a breath was exhaled causing a white fog to form from their mouth. A girl with Gryffindor robes was sitting in the middle of the classroom.
"Hermione, why are you doing this again?" Ron asked, extremely bored, sitting down next to Hermione after walking around in circles.
Hermione sighed "Because Ron I want to get better at potions..." she said a bit annoyed from the question that Ron asked her for the third time that evening. "and it's fun." She added.
"Fun?" Hermione didn't respond to Ron's sarcastic tone. "You're the smartest girl in fifth year and probably in the whole school!" Ron said blaringly. Hermione blushed at Ron's comment as she continued on the potion. "Thank you but that's not true." Hermione said humbly.
Ron rolled his eyes. He thought to himself that the girl sitting in front of him was definitely the smartest in the whole world and also the most gorgeous. He admired her very much, if only she knew. Ron looked at the bushy haired girl focusing on the task at hand.
Hermione was adding some revolting ingredient into the potion making Ron gag a little. Then slowly as she stirred clockwise the potion turned into an orange color. "Is that a strengthening potion?" Ron asked.
Hermione put her hair behind her ear. Ron's heart gave a little flutter. "No, it's the Contrarium Potion or other known as the opposite potion. When you drink it, the opposite of what you want to say comes out." Hermione explained.
Ron was astonished how she can always remember definitions like it was nothing. Ron asked. "So if I drink it and I wanted to say I love food it would come out as I hate food instead?"
"Yes, precisely." Hermione answered trying to hold back a giggle. Ron nodded in understanding.
Ron began to think about the game tomorrow. Gryffindor's against the Slytherins. Harry should be done with practice by now he thought. "Right, anyway are you almost done? I want to talk to the guys about the quidditch game tomorrow." Ron said the last sentence a little too excitedly. He knew that Hermione isn't that big about quidditch so she doesn't really get as hyped as him and his dorm mates do.
Hermione laughed. "Yes Ron I just finished. Just help me clean this up." Hermione put the finished potion in a triangular container. Ron "helped" by putting the extra ingredients in their wrong places on the shelfs. Hermione had to place them in the right areas. It took some time but the area they were sitting at was spotless.
Hermione looked up at the clock above the shelf and was shocked to see the time was already 8:30P.M. The two of them both got their books but left the potion on a shelf for potions the students had made. They quickly left because curfew was at 9P.M. and it took some time from getting up to the Gryffindor tower from down in the dungeons.
