it's for you

"How did it go?", Camila shouted from the kitchen when she heard the front door at the rented house they were staying at. Footsteps followed and she waited to see her boyfriend entering the kitchen.

His curls were longer than ever and they were falling everywhere around his head. He had touched them, she knew. The long sleeve of his navy blue top were rolled up to his elbows and his mala bead was hanging from his neck.

Shawn walked up to her with a steady and unhurried pace. He said nothing until he was standing right in front of her and looking down at her eyes. Camila would've felt intimidated if it was someone else, given the intensity of his gaze and the height difference, but she wasn't. Not with him. She pointed her chin up with a smile on her face and soon after a hand was resting on her cheek.

"It went great", Shawn whispered over her lips and then kissed her slowly, tracing his lips over hers so tenderly that it made her shiver.

Camila held on to the fabric of his top and matched his energy, sucking on his lower lip slowly and sensually.

She rested her head on his strong and broad chest when the kiss ended, listening to his heartbeat and feeling the warmth of his body surrounding her. His big hands traced her back up and down as he took in the easiness of being alone with her after an hectic day.

"What are you cooking?", he asked feeling his energy and love tank refilled and taking a step back to see her.

"Salmon", she replied.

"Fancy", he commented and she laughed taking a look back at the pan.

"It's going to be ready soon", she announced.

Shawn sat on one of the stool by the kitchen island and watched her add more spices to the fish. She had a gift for that and he had learned to trust the process.

"I finished a new song today", he sighed and let the words out too quickly. He wanted to share everything with her but sometimes he felt shy about the things he was about to tell her.

"Which one?", she inquired looking back over her shoulder.

"24 hours", he admitted and he felt his cheek turn red.

"Seriously?", she wondered because he had said they were putting a pause on that one for now.

"Yeah", he nodded.

"Does it feel good now?", she said to make sure he was still sticking up to his original concept.

"Yeah. It's what I was looking for", he nodded with a tight lip smile, like a little kid.

Camila turned off the stove and walked up to him, standing between his knees. With him sitting down, they were almost the same height. She ran her fingers through his hair like she knew he liked it and he closed his eyes enjoying the attention. He placed his hands on her hips, unable to hold back when she was so closed.

"I'm so excited for you", she began to say. "This vision you have is so beautiful and I'm glad you're not letting it go. I promise you'll be proud of yourself once everything is ready because you didn't give up".

"Thank you", he muttered. He breathed in and out, her words echoing in his mind.

He had never had that kind of support before and it was an impressing realization. Sure he had felt the support from his team, his family and his friends, and he still felt it every day. But, having a significant other telling him that everything was going to be ok and that she loved his work in progress was a novelty. Needless to say that that person being Camila made it a whole lot more special.

"What did you do today?", he asked him after kissing her long and deep.

"Oh, you mean after you kicked me out of the studio?", she asked him tilting her head to the side and watching him with eyebrows up.

She had been waiting for the right moment to bring that up.

"I didn't-", he began to say but she put her hand on his mouth to shut him, making him laugh. She felt the vibration of it on her skin and felt goosebumps.

"Yes, you did. You said you couldn't record if I was there, so I left, because I'm a good person", she told him adamant.

"I said you couldn't be on the control booth because you were making me nervous", he argued playfully. "I didn't say you had to come back here".

"Same thing, Shawn. Everyone was in there, I didn't want to be alone in the other rooms".

"I'm sorry", he whispered wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer. "I didn't mean to push you away, but you were really making me nervous".

She resisted his hug at first but had to give in when he started kissing and nibbling around her neck.

"Stop", she giggled. "Ok, I forgive you... on one condition".

His stomach squeeze at her words. She was so unpredictable that he was sometimes afraid of her mind. Afraid and impressed.

"Ok...?", he said looking at her suspiciously.

"You have to show me the song", she said.

"Today's song?", he said to confirm.

"Yes", she nodded.

"But you heard it already", he reminded her about that first demo he showed her months ago.

"And I want to hear it again. Finished", she clarified.

He wasn't so sure. There was a lot in that song and he still felt a bit shy about it. He was practically asking her to spend all her days with him and hinting at an eventual wedding. He wasn't planning to propose, but it felt like the next natural step because he couldn't imagine life without her anymore.

"Please?", she begged with puppy eyes when he seem to think too much about it. He couldn't say no to that face.

"Ok, fine", he said and picked up his phone to play the final demo for her.

She eventually sat on his lap while they listened to the song. She rested her head on his shoulder and cuddled his face against his neck. She felt an immense peace washing over her as his voice filled the room with soft and sweet love declarations.

He liked to tease her, bug her, mess with her. He spent more time doing that than actually professing his love for her so eloquently as in the song, so she was enjoying it very much. He loved her and she had never doubted that, she had learned to identify his love language beyond explicit words but it was always nice to hear him say it straightforwardly every now and then.

"I love it", she said without moving from her place.

Shawn smiled even though she couldn't see him at the moment. He had one arm around her back and the other over her legs, like he was holding a baby.

"For real?", he whispered just for her.

"Yes, totally", she replied and sat up to look at him in the eyes. "It's amazing".

"It's for you", he told her.

"Well yeah, duh", she joked to lift up the mood. She didn't want him feeling uncomfortable or overthinking it.

He laughed with her and she felt his shoulders relaxed under her touch while they kissed once again.

"I love you", she whispered to him, keeping their foreheads together.

"I love you, baby".
