miss your touch

Camila poured on wine and took the half full glass to her room. She had her hair in a messy bun and was wearing a bathrobe over her summer pajama. She checked the time on her phone and placed the glass on the nightstand. She just had to wait now.

Her stomach twisted inside her belly and her heart started beating fast when her phone rang. She glanced quickly at the picture on her screen before swaping to answer the call. It was a photo of Shawn and her. She was on his lap kissing his cheek, absolutely crashing her face against his and he was squinting his eyes with a big kid-like smile with his arms around her waist, pulling her closer. It was one of those picture that were taken on the spot by one of their friends, completely casual, and therefore weren't meant to be shown to others.

"Hi", she greeted him with an excited smile and high pitched tone.

"Hi, baby", he said back looking at her with those tender eyes.

"I was waiting for you", she told him sweetly.

She checked him on the screen. She looked cautiously at his face, his eyes, looking for any traces of worrisome or tiredness. There was nothing of that there, just love.

"How are you?", she asked him and he sighed loudly before saying anything.

"I'm good", he replied. "Today has been good".

She smiled at him, knowing his words were real. If he was lying or trying to keep something from her, she would know. She knew him too well already.

"That's great".

"What about you?", Shawn wanted to know. "How is it going?"

They were about to hit a month apart. Camila in London, and Shawn in L.A.

"Oh, it's so much fun", she told him. "It's tiring as hell too, but I don't mind".

"Are you having fun?", that was all he cared about. That she was happy.

"Yeah", she whispered. "So much".

"I'm glad, baby".

With the first checking in out of the table, all that was left to do was stare deep into each others eyes and pretend they weren't so many miles away and with a whole ocean between them. There was no need for words, they could almost feel the warmth of their bodies through the phone just because they couldn't take the eyes off each other.

"I miss you", she broke the silence first.

"I'm right here", Shawn tried to comfort her.

"I know, but... I miss your touch. I miss feeling you", she explained.

Shawn grinned at her and she rolled her eyes before laughing. He was joking, he loved to mess with her about that.

"Shut up", she scolded him.

"Sorry", she chuckled and then spoke honestly. "I miss you too. The bed feels way too big without you".

"I miss my bed too", she put her finger on her chin thinking about it, consciously disming what Shawn had said.

He laughed, knowing she was trying to get back at him. She smiled to him.

"It's weird how we spent every day together for months and now we are so far away", she commented. "I feel a part of me is missing".

"I know... It's not fun to be in your house when you are not here", he sighed. "It feels empty".

"Just a few more weeks, right?", she tried to be optimistic.

"Right", he nodded.

What each of them were doing was important for them, and wouldn't left it undone to go back. They weren't like that. They knew how much their art meant to each other, and if any of them was to back down, it would be honestly upseting and even disappointing. They loved their determination and their work ethic, they wouldn't give up on that or want the other to do so.

"We've spent longer that this separated from each other", Shawn shrugged.

Camila frowned. When? The longest was when he was on tour and even then it was probably just three weeks, never longer than a month like now.

"What do you mean?", she asked him confused. "When?"

"When we were younger", he said.

She instantly smiled and grinned when she understood what he meant. They weren't together back then, but they were always somehow connected.

"It's was easier, though", she mentioned. "I could just pretend you weren't doing the same and act like I was fine".

"Like if I were any good at that", he chuckled and his cheeks blushed, exposing himself.

"You were!", she playfully argued.

"You were just too naive", he told her. "Everyone around me knew what, or actually, who I needed".

"You were on top of the world, I never guessed you were still thinking about me", she said and her eyes dropped.

"I was always thinking about you", he replied, and if he could ,he would've taken her chin in his fingers and angled it up to kiss her.

"I guess you never left my mind either", she beat her eyelashes at him.

"And now we are here", he let out, not longer wanting to look back at the times they were too proud to let their hearts go.

"Yeah", she smiled feeling warm in her chest.

"Are you getting ready for bed now?", he asked her taking a look at the bathrobe and peeking under it.

"Yep", she nodded. "I'm working early tomorrow. What are you doing?"

"I still have some studio time before I go home".

She smiled to herself at the sound of Shawn calling her house home.

"Is it all coming together?", she wondered. She was so excited for him and the album.

"Pretty much", he replied.

"I'm so excited", Camila said. It was so good to see him working hard on something he wholeheartedly believed in.

His heart felt full on his chest. For the first time he was pouring his heart out in an album that was completely about her and he didn't have to hide it from anyone. She had been with him from the start and that had meant the world to him.

"Thank you", he muttered.

She wanted to grab his face and kiss him again and again, but that was impossible at the moment.

"I'll be there when everything is done", she promised him.

They had looked at their schedule and made sure they were together for when the album released. They wanted to be together when that happened and there was nothing staying between them.

"I love you", he said with his whole chest, feeling the words buzz around him. He loved her so much it was insane.

"I love you too, baby", she replied and traced his face on the screen, like if she could actually touched him.

"You won't leave my sight when you get back", he half joked, with an authoritative tone.

The truth was he couldn't stand the thought of ever been away from her, ever in his life.

Camila laughed. She liked how possessive and even clingy he could be some times. Just the right amount, of course. But she liked it. It made her feel wanted.

"Hmmm", she murmured flirty. "Now I really can't wait".

"Go to bed", he told her sweetly. "The days will pass by fast enough".

"Goodnight, baby. Dream about me", she winked.

"I always do", he smirked.
