The young brunette woke up but instantly squinted her eyes at the bright white lights. Is this what it felt like to be dead? She first thought but once her eyes slowly adjusted to the light, she soon realized she was in one of the hospital beds at Seattle Grace Mercy West.
Lexie didn't know how long she was out for but her throat was scratchy so the instant she tried to talk, she went into a coughing fit which caused Meredith, the only one in the room, to get up and slowly let her sip from the water with a straw.
Although Lexie loves Meredith and was thankful that she was here, she wasn't the face that Lexie had hoped would be smiling at her when she woke up. But why would Mark wait for her? He only said that because he had thought she was dying. He had Julia, she was perfect.
"M-Meredith..? Is e-everyone..o-okay..?" Lexie managed to get out which caused Meredith to stroke her hair softly, "Arizona lost a leg but Callie has been taking her to physical therapy and things have been going good. Derek should be able to get into Surgery by next week with the conditions of his hand and Cristina..well, she held it together to the point where..she can't anymore.." Meredith quickly shook her head to keep herself from getting to sad. "Y-you've been in a coma for 2 months now, Lex. Everyone has missed you.."
Not everyone. Lexie thought to herself but just as she was about to ask Meredith about Mark to see if she'd mention him and Julia, she heard that familiar voice at her door, "Lexie!" Mark exlaimed loudly as he dropped the coffees he had for him and Mer then ran over to her, taking her hand. "Hey..you're awake.."
Lexie couldn't believe it. He was here..and he was waiting for her to wake up. But what about Julia? Meredith snuck out to give them privacy and as if Mark could read Lexie's mind, he spoke. "I ended things with Julia the night we all were rescued. I've always been in love with you Lexie Grey and I was too blind to notice until I realized just how easily I could lose you. Julia is a great girl, but no one can ever compare to my little Grey" he said softly and Lexie could've sworn she saw his eyes begin to get teary.
Lexie slowly reached her hand up and gently touched his cheek, "I-I want to be a S-Sloan.." Lexie managed to get out, causing Mark to quickly widen his eyes, all he's ever wanted to do was marry Lexie since he met her and now she actually wants to marry him.
"Lexie, are you saying what I think you're saying..?" Mark asked cautiously. He didn't want to end up having his heart broken by the girl he loved the most.
Lexie managed to let out a weak laugh and nod, "m-more than anything.."
"Well then Lexie Grey, I think we just got engaged" Mark said with a smirk, happy to have Lexie back in his life the way he wanted.
"I'd really a-appreciate if m-my fiancee could climb in b-bed and hold me.." Lexie whispered and could see Mark's eyes light up. They haven't held each othet in such a long time. It was definitely much needed. The fit together like perfect puzzle pieces.
Mark took his shoes off and carefully climbed into bed, making sure to not hurt her stitched up legs and arms. He then wrapped his arms securely around her as if she would fade away if he let go. He kissed her head a few times before Lexie slowly began to drift off into a relaxed sleep into the love of her life's arm, but as she started falling asleep, she heard him whisper these words.
"You and me Lexie, this is forever. We're forever"
