Field trips are usually something Anastasia looked forward to, but today, she wasn't feeling like herself. She was thinking it was just the pregnancy, so she didn't say a word to Edward or anyone for that matter. She stood against Edward as she was starting to feel worse. "Baby?"

"I'm fine, its just the pregnancy." Ana tells him.

Edward read her mind and knew she was lying. "You're lying." He tells her. "What is exactly wrong?"

"I don't know." She said. "At first I thought it was morning sickness, but..." she grabbed his hand and put it to her forehead. "I think my human side is telling me that I may have a cold."

Edward sighed as he looked at her. "Are you sure about going on this trip or do you want to go home and rest?"

"Going home and getting some rest sounds like a better idea."

Edward picked her up and carried her away. Caroline watched as Edward left with Anastasia.

Edward sighed as Anastasia was sound asleep. He sighed as he hated seeing her sick. This is the first time she's ever been sick. He remembered when he first saw her. Edward knew Anastasia Cullen would be his. He courted her and was close to asking Carlisle for her hand, but he fell ill. 'You didn't leave my side when I was dying and I won't leave yours." He tells her. "Getting some rest, baby."

Esme smiled as she walked downstairs and called Carlisle. "Carlisle, Ana is home in bed." She smiled as she heard Carlisle wanted to leave so he could see what is wrong with his daughter. "Edward is by her side right now. You continue to work and if she needs you, I will call you."

Edward walked downstairs to get some food and water to help Ana. "Edward, what you are doing is a blessing."

"Did Carlisle ever tell you how we came to be?" He asked Esme. She shook her head making Edward smile. "I remember the first day they came to Chicago. I saw a beautiful blonde that was the only one to capture my eyes. My parents knew of her and Carlisle, but I didn't." Edward smiled as he found some soup. "There was Anastasia staring at wedding dresses."

"I bet the one she was looking at would have made her feel like a princess."

"Exactly that one." Edward says. "I got the nerve to walk up to her and I confessed that the dress would look beautiful on her. From that day, we got to know each other better. The memory still comes back. Especially when I got sick."

Esme watched him put the soup in a bowl and take it upstairs. She followed as she always wondered about her daughter's story with Edward. "She never left my side." He tells her as he laid the bowl down and placed his cold hand to her forehead and smiled as she wasn't running a fever. "I didn't think she was different from other humans. So there I was panicking over her getting the Spanish flu, but she didn't care. Ana wanted to be with me."

"I'm guessing that it hurt the most."

"Yeah." Edward said. "Carlisle told her that I didn't have that long to live and the look on her face broke my heart. I didn't want to die. I wanted so badly to get better and keep her in my arms, but I knew that wouldn't happen as I was close to my death bed." He smiled as he grabbed Anastasia's hand and sighed. "Mom had asked Carlisle to turn me. 'If not for a life, but for your daughter.' I never knew she said that till Carlisle turned me."

"Oh wow." Esme said as the others minus Carlisle stood in the doorway listening.

"When I woke up, I panicked. I was scared as I didn't know what was happening to me till I heard her voice in my head." Edward looked back at Esme and saw his siblings. "She was wanting to go kill herself because I was 'dead.' Carlisle never told her that he had turned me. So I rushed upstairs and held her against the wall proving to her I was alive."

"Wow. That is one of the best love stories I have ever heard." Alice said. "You two were in love despite the mate bond."

"Yes." Edward tells her. "Now that we have a child on the way and seeing her sick just brings those memories back."

Esme looked at her daughter and smiled as Anastasia had someone that will always take care of her. Edward and Anastasia's story did inspire someone. Caroline Hale.

"Ana is my light." Was all Edward said as he kissed Ana's head. It was true. She was Edward's light and always will be.
