Memories

You were the newest member of the Resistance.

You were being given the tour of their secret base when you arrived in the hanger where they kept the majority of their fleet. General Leia Organa called over a brown haired man, wearing the signature Resistance jacket.

"Recruits, this is Poe Dameron. He's one of the best pilots we have here. If you want to be a pilot, you'll need to get in good with this one." Leia says to the small group, gesturing to the man over her shoulder.

"Lucky for you all, I've already spotted what I think should be good material." The man says, looking you up and down.

You blush almost automatically and look at the group as you begin to play with your fingers.

Leia finishes the tour and releases the small group to go to their new quarters. You walk down the hallway that should be yours, glancing down at the map again to double check. You hear a door open but don't look up thinking it's behind you, only to run head on into a solid body. You stumble over your feet and feel arms catch your elbows.

"Woah, you okay there?" A voice says.

Fuck. Of all people, it has to be him

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm so sorry." You say, looking up to meet the same brown-haired man who looked you up and down not even an hour earlier.

"No, no. It's all good. I'm Poe. Well, you already knew that." He starts, rubbing his forehead.

You giggle.

"It's okay. I'm Y/N." You say, smiling at him.

He lets out a slightly shaky breath and smiles back.

Holy shit. That smile.

"So, what room are you in?" Poe asks, glancing at the map in your hands.

"308." You say, gesturing to the room behind you.

"Seriously?" Poe asks, chuckling a little.

"Yeah, why?" You reply.

"I'm in 310 right here." He says, gesturing behind his shoulder, to the room next to yours.

You chuckle nervously and he does the same.

A moment of silence passes before you speak boldly.

"So who were you meaning earlier when you said you found some good material?" You ask, attempting to make small talk.

"Funny that you ask that. I was meaning you. I could train you if you wanted. To be a pilot. If you wanted me to that is." He says, smiling that dorky smile again.

"Really? That would be great!" You say, smiling back, brushing your hair behind your ear.

"Actually, would you want to go grab dinner now and then I can show you something after?" He suggests.

"I mean, yeah. Let me unpack a little real quick and then we can go?" You ask, stepping backwards.

"Yeah, sure." He says, stepping towards you.

You walk inside your room and toss the bag on your bed. You take out your small amount of clothes and start shoving them in your dresser. You notice that Poe hovers in the doorway.

"You can come inside." You say with a chuckle.

He smiles awkwardly and steps inside, leaning against the wall nearest the door.

"So what's your story?" He asks, as he watches you unpack.

"Well, I grew up on Jakku. Rey was an old friend. My parents never left me like hers did, but she became a part of my family. I think that I was the reason that she wanted to come back to Jakku. The day that she left was the day that my parents died. They died in the fight when she was escaping. The First Order. They shot them." You say, sitting down as you carefully reminisce on the memory.
