NOTE: If you havent read the books- Spoiler alerts!! dont read any more down. :P
I don’t talk about it, who really wants too? Over the last few months I’ve done a lot of thinking. Mostly a lot of ignoring but some thinking. I anxiously awaited the arrival of a movie I really wanted to go to see, but didn’t. Weather didn’t permit and I felt guilty spending money on myself. I do sometimes.
But over-all I felt the need to write this. Kind of like a review and reason.
I’ve read the whole series of fifty shades of grey books. An, I just re-read them again the last week- well 1.5 of them. I’m half way thru book two and when I put more money on my card I will buy the ebook of book 3.
If you haven’t read the books you really have no reason to have any sort of opinion. My only point beyond this is this is MY thoughts on it. And no matter how depraved or odd they are they are my own take. Everyone looks at things differently. I have a connection to certain aspects of these books for my own reasons. An, not for the sex or the violence, no matter how much they are a vital part of the story they aren’t the main reason I love these books. I will only go with the first book in my review/thought process because I have only recently fully read the first. ( half way thru the second) and again if you HAVENT read the books- and still want to don’t read anymore- OR if you have and you disagree I could care less. My review my thoughts my needs my oddity.
As a person who has experience violence in more aspects of my life then one I can say that this story is NOT solely about violence. In fact, it’s not about violence at all. It’s about love.
I am a firm believer that change isn’t possible that people don’t change- however this book is FICTION- all aspect of the book though they could be considered real, aren’t. no matter how close to home they hit they aren’t. Just like all fictional novels we don’t go around heckling Vampires say they are violent sick fucks because they get pleasure in hitting a women.
I do believe hitting a women is wrong- girl, lady, women, lover- no matter how you label them, however for some reason some people feel that smacking your ass is a rather sexually pleasurable aspect and I can tell you it is.. for whomever is into it it’s their thing and they can do as they please.
The difference is its sexual not violence there is a fine line between right and wrong. If I tell you to smack my ass is acceptable however if I didn’t make your grilled cheese correctly you do not have the right to punch me in my jaw. Again…differences.
Some people are black and white and some people are grey.
I am grey I always will be. Sometimes I want to be black and white and just see the sun as a bright star warming our earth- however, I cannot. It’s hot and burning and painful.
These books are lovely to me- not because he hits her, not because he hurts her and not because she cannot handle it at first- or because she was innocent and he took advantage. Because he didn’t.
Everyone seriously makes him out to be this horrible character this evil vile man who deserves to be tortured.
However, he isn’t, and he doesn’t deserve any pain. He/ his character is a good man. Though he didn’t believe and I cannot remember what happens at the book 3 right now- he is just a cracked man. He needs glue and to be repaired, like so many actual people. He needs help and ANA is his glue.
The love he feels for her is endless and though he is demanding and insufferable- notice she loves him just the way he is. Even thru all his depravities, and pain. She loves him. She doesn’t change him or make him something he isn’t- just like he doesn’t change her. He accepts her for all she is and he lets go of the parts of himself that hurt so badly.
