As I sat on the couch cringing at One Born Every Minute, I couldn't help but think of how much pain it must put a woman through in order to give birth! A women's lower half of her body came on the screen and I could barely look at it. It was definitely time to switch over the channel, especially before my Dad got back. He was getting my two brothers from football practice, Max who is 9 and Joel who is 13. Almost 8 years ago, when I was 8, my Mum died in a car accident. There was a massive storm and it's still really hard for us to talk about it.
"Hey Lex!"
My Dad barged through the door laughing with Joel and Max behind him, all carrying a pizza box each. After I got us some plates and napkins, we all feasted. Looking around on our kitchen table, I couldn't be more happier for the family I have, we were at a good place. Living with just boys is tough, but I'm used to it. I don't think I could imagine it any other way! Sometimes, I do have to get away from boys which is why I love my best friend so much! Her name is Silver and she is amazing! I have other friends, but none as close as Silver.
As we finished hovering the Pizza up, I glanced down at my phone. It was 5:30 and I was staying the night at Silvers house. I quickly threw my coat on, grabbed my bag and left. I met Silver on the corner of my road and she wanted to go into the shop. Just as we were walking in, somebody barged past me.
"Excuse me!" I yelled. He turned around, laughed and left. I huffed in anger. "Some people have no manners!"
"I agree! Especially him! He's called Oscar and he's in my Maths and I don't think he actually does anything!" Silver told me.
"Whatever, he just needs to stop barging in to people!" My anger slowly turned in to a giggle as I was being overly angry. After getting some snacks, we were soon at Silvers house. Her family is small and with her older sister living away in Canada, she mainly has the house to herself. I can't wait to move out of this small town. Many people think London is the place to be. But, for me, it's just another place were dreams don't happen.
Silver passed me some snacks as she switched on the movie we were about to watch . The choice was 'Another Cinderella Story' or '13 going on 30', but I was so in love with Drew Seeley it was an easy choice to make. As Joey Parker (Drew) came onto the screen, I squealed with excitement. Silver couldn't help by laugh at me.
It was hard not to realise how pretty Silver was. She has wavy brunette hair and the most gorgeous hazel eyes. The day she realises will be the day I lose her to the popular crowd. At school, we are far from popular, but I know any of the boys would rather date Silver than me.
The movie soon ended, and I was left with the hopeless thought that one day someone may be head over heels in love with me like Joey was for Mary.
"Oh how gorgeous is he! One day we will both have boys who would stop at nothing to find out who we are" Silver squealed. It was definitely safe to say that me and Silver where the typical pair of teenage girls. After the movie, we decided to camp out on the floor in her living room. Her parents were never home when I stayed, they were both lawyers and worked most of the time. We set up beds of duvets on the floors and settled to sleep.
"So, how are you and Ben?" I asked her. Silver and Ben have been dating for at least a year now. They're perfect together and Ben is definitely the only reason all the other boys at school aren't in line to date her.
"We're perfect!" She smiled. "Better than ever!" She smiled again.
"I can't wait until I find the right guy!" I smiled at her. "I mean, Silver, I haven't had a real serious boyfriend my whole life!" I huffed. "I'm probably going to die a virgin or something!" We both laughed and shook our heads. Before we knew it, we were asleep.
I awoke by Silver snoring, like always! I took one of the blankets and wrapped it around myself. I sat on the couch, waiting for Silver to get up. Finally, she did. We had breakfast and then I went back to my house, which was only a block away.
I arrived home to my dad and Joel roaring at the TV. A football game was on, clearly. I went straight to my room and put down my bag. I jumped on my bed, still exhausted. I heard a knock at my bedroom door and I told whoever was there to come in. It was Max. "Hey!" I smiled at him while sitting up. He smiled back, but not his usual full smile. More of a sympathetic one. I messed up his brown hair "What's wrong?" I asked him.
"It's nothing!" He told me "It's just I'm not that into football matches and Dad and Joel are!" He confessed.
"Yeah, well you're only 9? You don't have to be in to football anyway, there are definitely more things to life!" I tried to make my little brother happier.
"Okay." He smiled and gave me a hug. He then left the room to probably play minecraft on his iPad or something like that. I collapsed backwards and I could feel myself drifting back to sleep. I got up instantly and tried to keep myself awake. I had a billion pieces of homework to do before I go back to school tomorrow. I hate when weekends are over, they're far too short!
Before I knew it, I had done more than 3 hours on homework! Well, that was my day wasted! I got into my pyjamas and went back downstairs to see what the guys were up too. Dad had went to work by now and Max and Joel were on their Xbox on FIFA. I sat down next to them and went on my phone. I had like a trillion messages off Silver. 'Lexi, pick up the phone!!' I clicked on 'Silver<3' and my phone was dialling her number. "Hello!" Silver's voice was at the other end of the line.
"Hey, so what did you want to talk about?" I asked her, it sounded like it was an emergency.
"Right, so my mum is always working and I want to throw a party!" I could feel her excitement coming off the phone. "Please come Lex?!"
"Erm..." I thought hard about it. A party couldn't hurt? But, I really wasn't sure! "Let me get back to you!" I told her. She just said okay and that she was really excited. When the conversation ended, I bit my lip and smiled. I had never been to a real party before. It was always kiddish ones. Like when I was 4 or 5 and my mum would take me to a dress up party at one of my friend's house. Or when I had to take Max to someone's birthday. This was real and about me having fun.
I rang Silver again and she picked up. "I'm in!" I laughed. She squealed and told me that it would be next weekend. I was excited! I switched my phone off and turned to face Max and Joel, who were still staring at little cartoon men running around a football pitch. Before I knew it, it was 9:30 and everyone had to be in bed for school. I locked the door and made sure my little brothers brushed their teeth. Max would probably be on his iPad and Joel would be on his phone or PS4 or something. My dad works as a doctor so he would be home late.
I fell asleep thinking about the party. It wasn't for another week, but I had a good feeling about this party. Of course, I would have to help Silver out. But, this is a great chance to meet some new friends outside of my little bubble with Silver.
