A couple weeks later, was the day Oscar wanted to take me shopping. I was going to tell him that i was still thinking about adoption, but he kept mentioning taking me and he had insisted. I went to his around 10 and he even made me breakfast! I knocked at the door, but nobody answered, so i rang the bell. Eventually, i heard footsteps walk towards the door. It was raining and i had only put my leather jacket on, making me freezing and wet. A woman answered the door, she was tall and her blonde hair was wavy. I had guessed instantly that it was his mum. "Oh, come in quickly! It is rather wet today isn't it!" She laughed, softly. I stepped inside and took my jacket off to hang it on the white coat hanger. "You must be Lexi, it is Lexi isn't it?" She asked. I nodded and felt uncomfortable. She probably thought the worst of my back then. Probably thought i was a slag or something. "Ok, i'm Oscars mum and he'll be down in a second! Take a seat?" She gestured to a chair as we walked in to the kitchen. I sat down and scooted the chair under the table slightly, so she couldn't see my stomach. She then sat down in the chair opposite me. "So, have you figured out on any names for the baby yet? Oh, and i heard you're having a boy!" She smiled.
"Yeah. Oh, and we're still deciding on that!" I smiled back, trying not too make things awkward. "So, how's Oscar acting about this?" I asked her, looking glum.
"Actually, i think he's taking it all in to stride! He seems to know what he's doing and i get you both made a mistake but it doesn't mean this little guy has to suffer!" I nodded at her response. I was glad Oscar hadn't taken this as the end of the world like i slightly did. He then entered the room with a smile on his face.
"Ready?" He asked me and i nodded. He smelt amazing, full of aftershave ! He was wearing a tight grey shirt and dark blue skinny jeans with a pair of converse on. He looked gorgeous, but he's not my gorgeous. I said bye to his mum as he put on his coat and we left. After i ran to his car from the rain, he asked me; "Where do you want to go then? What shopping centre?" I thought about it and wasn't actually sure, so i just told him to take me the one only a couple of blocks away.
We got out of the car and ran in to the mall. I walked straight over to 'mothercare' and Oscar had to catch up to me. I looked around and it was like a dream. My child would have the best childhood if he had everything in here. "Ok, so we need stuff for newborns first don't we?" Oscar asked and i nodded. We wondered around until we found the isle. Eventually we did. I grabbed bottles, a gorgeous cot mobile and a few other essentials there. We then went to the clothes isle and i practically brought the lot! Loads of patterned onsies, a few tops and pants and hats. I got what i needed from that shop and unfortunatly for Oscar, it was time to pay! It came up to around £150.
Next was 'kiddicare'. There, i was getting all the furniture stuff. As i went there, Oscar went to put the other stuff in the car. Basically, in this shop i got a car seat, a pram, a proper full set up cot, some baby towels, baby monitors and probably a lot of other things! I left the shop empty handed though, since i got everything delivered for tomorrow. On the way back, i saw Oscar and he had a huge smile on his face. "Whatt you so happy about?" I asked him, lightly smiling. He shuck his head faintly and let out a slight grin.
"No, it's nothing. It's just i saw these two parents running with their little kid to their car. It's boltic out there so i found it slightly funny. But, i couldn't help but think that we'll be like that with this kid someday!" He let out a cringey smile "Cringey i know!" He laughed, looking at the floor.
"No, it's the truth. I'm just glad you realise that there is a future after i give birth to our son, we have got to think about it!" I smiled and we started to walk back to the car.
"Yeah, i guess so" His smile weekend to a friendly smile. We then ran to the car with are heads down, trying to not get drowned by the rain. I got in. "Look at us! We're soaking!" He thought this was funny, so i looked at him seriously. Some of my hair was across my face which made him laugh hard. But, i gave in too, laughing. We then got on the road and the weather seemed to slowly get worse, soon it was hailing. "So, i'll drop you off home?" I nodded as he glanced at me for a split second. "OK, because I'm going to see Beth" I looked at him "I was wondering whether you'd mind if i tell her tonight or not?"
"Yeah, you can tell her" I made myself look like i didn't care as much as i could. He nodded and tapped his fingers on the wheel as he drove. The car was filled with silence, until i said; "How you going to tell her then?"
"I don't know really. Bring it straight up, i guess" We then finally arrived at my house. I opened the car door and stepped out, trying to lift myself up was the hardest part. The rain was light now, so i didn't have to run to my door. I heard Oscar yell my name, so i turned to look. "I'll come round tomorrow and help you set some things up, yeah?" I nodded and opened my front door.
I was quite glad that Oscar was telling Beth. I know that she'd probably yell and then break up with him. But, i did have to be prepared in case Beth wanted to be involved with Oscar, and then our son.
Oscar's P.O.V
It must have been the longest drive in my entire life. I thought about everything! Beth's house was only 3 miles away from Lexi's but it felt like 300. I thought about what Beth would do, say or think. Then, i thought about if she did break up with me. That maybe it would be for the best, for my son. There is no way Beth could change my mind about being in my sons life, but she could try. Also, i was scared for Lexi. Beth has had many fights in her time, but Lexi hasn't had one. Surely she wouldn't start one with a pregnant girl?
I eventually pulled up at her beach house and unbuckled my belt to get ready to go out the car. I stepped out and it felt like it was at least a mile to her door, least it had stopped raining. I knocked, steadily. She opened with a beaming smile on her face and she looked gorgeous. I can vividly remember that she was wearing short pink pyjama shorts and a white vest top. She jumped on me kissing me and i walked us both inside. She kept kissing me and i had to break it off, which was so hard! We both sat on her grey coach in silence. "I need to tell you something Beth!" She looked worried, like i was going to break up with her or something. "I got a girl pregnant and she's having my kid!" squeezed my eyes ready for the slap. But, opened them to her crying in her hands.
I didn't know what to do, so i just sat there. She then rose her head up, looked around quickly and said; "I'm pregnant too Oscar! That's why i was so happy! I'm pregnant too!" My mouth dropped and i started to sweat. She walked and grabbed something off the kitchen table. I glared at a pregnancy test stick and it was indeed positive! This couldn't have been happening, i had to leave. I got up and headed for the door, stiff and frozen. I ran to my car and sat in there for a while, unbelieving what i just heard. Then, i set off home with tears in my eyes. I felt every bad emotion you could ever feel, apart from angry. I just felt guilty, sad, devastated and loads of other emotions came in to twine.
I didn't even go home that night, just sat in my car driving along the motorways and on the roads. I just couldn't deal with my mum asking question of why i was so upset. I even fell asleep in my car that night and woke up around 11am. There was no way i was going to tell Lexi that Beth was pregnant.
