I can't believe this. We've barely been here in Huntington Beach, California for not even 3 weeks yet and I've already met the sweetest guy ever.

My best friend and her family moved here along with mine just recently because our dads were relocated once again for business reasons. I swear, they will do whatever it takes to be successful, even if it means pissing their families off every time we have to say goodbye to our new friends and occasionally, boyfriends. But, I guess a fathers gotta support his family, right?

Anyways, I'm Nicole Beckman. I'm 17 years old and a junior in high school along with my best friend for 15 years now, Alise Bryan. Alise is also 17, but she is three months older than I am. We've done everything together since I can remember. From taking our first Dance classes together, to moving from state to state whenever our dads think it's needed, which I hate because sometimes it happens quite frequently. I just want to be able to settle down in one place for a good while without worrying about not making too good of friends with anyone or falling for guys so it won't hurt so much to say good bye when the time comes. That's why I'm so thankful to have Alise with me throughout all of this for all these years, she makes it seem not as hard because regardless if we make new friends or whether we have to say good bye to them, we will always have each other. I consider her as more than just a best friend, she's like a sister to me.

These past three weeks here have been definitely taking us some getting used to, considering we just moved here from Des Moines, Iowa. It gets pretty cold up there, which we were not immune to either, and of course when it starts to grow on us, we're forced to pack up and move once again. I use to like moving and seeing things extraordinary all around the country, but as we get older, it's been getting a lot harder with the meeting new friends, getting close, knowing it won't last long, and then forced to say our farewells. I hope we stay here longer than recent places, because it's really nice and so are the people. Although, by the looks of every one, I'm pretty sure Alise and I could use a good tan. Majority of these girls look like they bake on the beach during summer and fry themselves in a tanning bed during the winter. That's Cali for ya.
