Beats of Love

Chapter 2

The crowd cheered and the lights came up. "One two, one two three!" Natsu yelled, beating his drums in perfect rhythm. The other band members followed suit and Gray took up his place as the lead singer.

From the wings, a girl with long, white hair listened intently. They're pretty good, she thought. "Mira!" A voice called to her. She turned around. "What do you guys think of them?" She asked to the blonde who had called her name. "That doesn't matter right now, we need your help!" Lucy said, pulling her to where the rest of her band was. "Juvia got her hair tangled in her guitar."
"Oh my..." Mira chuckled. There was Juvia, her long, blue hair somehow wrapped around the neck of her guitar. The poor girl looked close to tears. "Mira-san!"
"It's alright, Juvia, I can get you out." She walked over and began untangling her as gently as possible. "How did this happen anyway?"
"Well, Juvia was practicing her guitar when she heard that beautiful voice coming from onstage so she turned wrong and...."
"See, this is why I try to ignore men," Their bodyguard, Erza, said as she crossed her arms. "They only seem to cause problems."
"Please, Erza, we all know it's just because you're too shy to talk to them," Levy said, twirling one of her drumsticks. Erza's face turned the same shade as her hair.
"There!" Mira said, finally freeing Juvia's hair from the guitar.
"Oh, thank you, Mira-san!" Juvia exclaimed, hugging her.
Mira smiled, "A manager has to be prepared for things like this." She turned to the rest of the girls and clapped her hands. "Alright, you three are on right after these guys, make Fairy Tail Records proud!"
"Don't we always?" Levy smirked.

After the boys finished up their last song they headed back stage. "That was so awesome!" Natsu exclaimed. "We were pretty cool." Jellal agreed. Suddenly a group of girls rushed past them to the stage. Natsu let out a low whistle. "Now this is why I learned how to play music. Did you see that blonde?" The four of them continued back stage to pack up. "Excuse me, Slayers, was it?" A woman with white hair was standing there. "Uh, yeah that's us." Gray said. "I'm Mirajane Strauss, I'm with Fairy Tail records. I heard you play tonight and would like you to come join us." Their eyes grew wide. "Seriously?" Gajeel said. She nodded and handed Jellal a business card. "Come by our building tomorrow and we'll work out a contract." With that she turned and left. The boys stood there for a moment in silent shock, they couldn't believe it. Then they erupted. "We did it! We're gonna be famous!" Natsu yelled. They all cheered and laughed. Just then, the girls they'd seen earlier walked past again, chatting happily. "I think we did really well toni-" suddenly, Levy was cut off. Gajeel, in his excitement, had tripped over and extension cord. He stumbled and the neck of his guitar went right through Levy's drum. He turned to the small blunette. Her jaw had gone slack and her eyes were wide. "How...?" She turned her attention from her ruined drum to Gajeel. "You just ruined my drum! What the crap were you thinking!" She yelled. "Hey, it's not like I did it on purpose!" Gajeel retorted. "Well it's still your fault! These were brand new!" She was shaking with anger. Erza entered, having heard the commotion. "What the-?" Her eyes glanced between the drum and Gajeel. She cracked her knuckles. "This is not a good day for you, metal face." Just then, Mira returned. "That won't be necessary, Erza. It was an accident I'm sure. Besides these boys are with us now." "What?!" The girls exclaimed. Mira nodded. "We're signing their contract tomorrow." "But Mira! Didn't you see what they-" Lucy was cut off. "The company will pay for the damages. Now, we should be going. It was lovey meeting you." She waved to the boys. The girls reluctantly followed her, only after shooting the boys some nasty glares. "Well you screwed that one up, metal head." Natsu shook his head.
