"She was everything to me! Do you understand that?" I spat the blood from my mouth at the floor, what does he mean she was his everything?

"You kidnapped her when she was 17." I say breathlessly, "She was mine!" He punched me in the face again. The brass knuckle that was wrapped tightly around his hand dripped with my blood.

"You took her away from me." I slowly lift my head, feeling the heavyweight build inside my skull makes it even harder to even meet Kai's dark eyes.

"You put her in danger! I will never tell you where she is!" In a quick swift movement, I feel a gun being pressed to my forehead, "You better be careful with your words Smith." He reached for his back pocket, pulling out a small remote.

He clicked a button on the remote, pointing it at the screen in the corner of the room. Hazel. The video shows her in some sort of basement, hands and legs tied to a chair, a piece of duck tape over her mouth and she is passed out.

"How-how did you get to her?!" I try to lunge myself over at him but I am tied too tight to the chair to even move, "Pretty easy in my opinion. She willingly wanted to join me" He swings the gun around and laughed maniacally.

"If you ever want to see your precious wife again you are going to do exactly what I tell you."

"And if I don't? What'll you do? Kill her?" He points to the screen with his gun. "Mmm...no, but I'll let Hazel know to say her final goodbyes" I yell out at him, "No!" Darkness fills the bright-lit room.

"Where are you going to be?" Hazel's soft voice echoed throughout my office, "Something to do with my Mum, she says she isn't feeling the best, so I thought of flying down there." Ashely hands me some documents.

"Oh no, is she alright?"

"Yeah yeah, she just has a cold." I scan over the documents and the first thing that catches my eye is Kai's name. "Do you want me to come with you, help you out?" God, it feels fucking awful lying to her, especially when she is offering to help even though she hates New York.

"No Princess, it's perfectly fine. You stay here, where you are safe." I fling the paper on my desk, picking my phone up and pressing it against my ear, "I don't mind- Yes, yes I want those delivered to my house tonight." I heard her talking to someone.

"I don't mind coming with you baby." She said, "I can't do that to you, my love, it's absolutely fine if you stayed here, Mum knew you were going to want to come but she even insisted on you staying."

"Oh. Alright then, what time are you leaving, maybe we can get something to eat?" I look at my Rolex.

3:30 pm.

I didn't have much time, but who knew if I would even come back. Don't say that, you are coming back. Do this for Hazel. "I gotta be at the airport around five. I'm going to take the jet so it's easier for me to fly back as well."

"Oh good, I was going to suggest that. Okay, I just have a few more things to do here and I'll meet you in 10."

"Perfect my love. I'll see you later."

"Love you, Rome."

"Love you, Princess."

She cuts the call. I swipe my hand over my face, I lied. And it is eating me on the inside. I so badly want to pick up that phone, dial her number and just tell her the truth.

But remember, you are doing this for her. So you both can have a normal life without having to look over your shoulder every fucking time.

That is what is holding me together, her. The thought of not having to deal with this bullshit any longer sets a wave of relief for me. We can be a family, live a happy and normal life.
