When she was about 16 her father remarried and her mother became so depressed that while she was drunk she committed suicide. Charlene begged to her father to take her in but after many failed attempts, her father started calling the police and accusing her of harassment. She gave up and lived the life of a homeless person taking many small jobs in order to feed herself. Eventually, she got a somewhat stable and decent paying job and got a small, old apartment.
