I gulp and take a deep breath. It's time to face the music. Although I've done nothing wrong I was just passing through, I didn't even know there was a pack here.
"Olivia. Leave." Maria's voice was so sharp it could have cut glass. Olivia stands up, gives me a wink and then stalks out of the room slamming the door behind her. "LEAVE!" Maria growls, power lacing her words. There is a snarl and then a bang. James smiles at me and then stages whispers:
"She was listening to us through the door." I can't find it in me to really smile so I force one but it's more of a grimace than anything. "Right." Speaking loudly once again his alpha voice coming through. "Down to business, welcome to the family honey." I sit there shocked. Is this some kind of joke. Maria walks over and embraces me. I hug her back wondering what's going on. She pulls back and starts talking holding my hands in hers.
"Look, we know this must be difficult for you but we can't send you away seeing as you're not only a white wolf but you're Jared's mate. You will lead this pack with him one day and oh, what an amazing Luna you shall be." She tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. I tense at her words. Me? A Luna? "You were made to be a Luna that much is obvious, I mean look at you. You didn't shirk away when James used his alpha command or when I did. There is a deep power within you, you just need to find it." She sighs. "You will do us proud." I see her eyes glisten.
"Getting a bit off track there." James says with a chuckle he too walks over and pulls me into a hug. "I don't think you realise quite how happy you make Jared and heck!" He pulls back resting his hands on my shoulders. "You guys haven't spent anytime together apart from when he was bringing you here. Gosh, you should of heard him when you went into heat. He did nothing but worry. Silly boy." Aww. I feel my heart warm at his words. Jared is concerned about me. It shouldn't make me so glad to hear this but I couldn't help the happiness that tore through my body. "And yet he is so much more cheerful since he's met you. I remember meeting Maria." He smiles at her and she blushes a deep red. Ew. "On that topic, you guys need to mate. And soon." I choke and gasp for air. I need to do what now?!
"James." Maria scolds him. "You can't just bring that up. Get out!" She points to the door and smiles. He walks up to her and leaves a quick kiss on her lips.
"Yes m'am!" He does a weird salute and the marches out. She giggles and looks at me. Quickly composing herself she sits on the sofa and pats the seat next to her. I do as I'm told and sit where her hand was.
"This is a little awkward but he's right you know. You two have to mate soon. The longer you wait the weaker your wolves become and the pack is technically yours seeing as it gets passed down at the age of 20 or when their mate is found. A pack can only last so long with an unmated alpha male and female. I know it's very sudden, I remember it. Our situation was much like yours. I didn't want to be with him. I ran away. Multiple times actually, but in the end the pull was too strong. The pack was falling apart and our wolves were dying. I made the decision to come back and it was the best decision I've ever made. You may not want this but it's for the best and trust me when I say you won't regret it." She kisses my forehead and leaves me to think her words over.
I wonder aimlessly around the house ending up in the kitchen. Do I want to be with Jared? Well I don't really have a choice do I? I sigh and rummage through the cupboards. Would it be all that bad? I mean Maria said it was the best decision she's ever made. If I just grow some balls and man up I would save a lot of pain. The pack wouldn't suffer and neither would our wolves. Am I so selfish as to deny the pack their rightful alphas? Or am I just making excuses to be with him.
I smirk when I spot what I was looking for. I pull out a bottle of vodka, brandy and then one of port. This should work, I think with a smile. I look around for a glass but give up and make my way to Olivia's room. She seems like the type of person to get sh!t faced with.
I walk in, she is led on the floor with her feet resting on her bed. She has changed out the dress into some skinny jeans and a big jumper with 'A Day To Remember' scrawled across it.
"How'd it go?" She questions with a smile. I shake my head and drop the bottles on her bed. She stands up and then shakes her head. "This won't do." I frown, fine I'll drink without her. "If we're going to get drunk we'll need more than this. But I suppose it's a start." I snort and then cheer. She hushes me "Keep it down, they'll hear us."
I laugh and she quickly joins me. "Right. Let's do this." I pick up the bottle of port and take a swig. Wincing as it burns it's way down my throat.
"Stop!" She shouts. "If we do this, we do this right. Now where'd I put it?" She searches through her desk and pulls out a small vile with a label on it saying wolf's bane. I frown at it.
"Doesn't that kill wolves?" I ask sullenly.
"Yes." I growl. "But, with the right amount it will gets us pissed off our faces." I laugh, okay then.
I open all the bottles and line them up on the desk with the lids next to them. She sprinkles the tiniest bit in each bottle. "That should be enough." I screw the lids on and shake the bottles mixing them together.
I hand her a bottle, not sure which one and watch intently as she brings the liquid to her mouth she pulls a face and shivers. I laugh and I know from that moment on we were goners.
"Woohoo!" I scream as I slide down the stairs in a sleeping bag. I hum, hearing my voice jump as I hit each step but I don't feel any pain. I hit the floor with a grunt and roll for a second before bursting out with laughter. Olivia follows close behind and we collide. I smile and she giggles. She too was in a sleeping bag. I don't know how we found them or why we were in them but it was so much fun. She gasps and screams:
"WORM WARS!" I laugh loudly before cheering in agreement.
"Wait!" I burp loudly and blush. She laughs and rolls on the floor. "How do - do you play?" I hiccup part way through. She shrugs her shoulders and blinks, her left eyelid went down before the right one.
"Don't I know! Just attack other each in your sleeping bags." She slurs out. Somehow I understand and nod in agreement. "To the living room!" She shouts and pokes one of her arms out of the hood of her bag pointing to the ceiling. I laugh and we shuffle into the room on our stomachs.
When we finally make it to the lounge we stand facing each other a few meters apart. It took us a while to stand up. They had wooden floors so we were sliding and falling about all over the place. I put on a serious face and size her up but inside I'm laughing at the absurdity of the situation.
"...3" She starts.
"...3, no! 2..." I continue. She chuckles and shouts one implying that we start wrestling.
I go to leap at her but the bag slips and I fall to the floor with a sturdy bang. She laughs and shuffles over to me. I swing my legs round and clip her. She falls with a satisfying thump. I laugh and climb out of my bag.
"Come on!" I grab the hood of her sleeping bag and drag her across the floor. I fell many times on the way to the kitchen not once did she think about helping me. She would just laugh and try to get away.
When we finally got to the kitchen I went to the cupboard that I found the other bottles in earlier. We had finished them and hid them under her bed. I rip the lid off and take multiple gulps of the first thing my hand touched. Olivia snatches it off me.
"Sharing is caring." I growl and that's the last thing I remember.
