Roommates

I opened the door to my dorm room at my new school, Weirdsister College, and guess who I saw, Mildred Hubble, my best friend since my first year at my grandma's school. She was putting her shoes on and didn't notice me walking in, her hair was cut short, it looked cute on her.

"Guess who finally made it?"

She looked up at me...and gasped.

"Hyacinth!"

"Mildred!"

She ran and gave me a big hug!

"It's been a year, you made it, you graduated!"

"I know!"

We let go of the hug.

"When did you get your lip pierced?"

"Right after gradation, I can finally do what I wanna do, I'm of age and free of my father and evil stepmother's grasp."

"Thank gosh...I was just getting ready to go to work."

"You have a job?"

"Yep, it's at a cafe in town called Misery's, it's a cute little place, the owner's nonmagical but loves magic, her son works there too, Elaine and Ben Stemson, very nice people. I can't wait for you to meet Ben, he's sweet, smart, and cute."

"Things I myself like in a boy."

Mildred quickly helped me unpack.

She was only a second late to Misery's.

"Don't worry, you're right on time Mildred."

A middle aged woman walked out of the back rooms.

"Who is this, a new friend?"

"We've been friends since we were children, we went to Miss. Cackle's, this is her granddaughter Hyacinth Cackle."

She gasped.

"Oh my goodness, what an honor! Is this your first year at Weirdsister?"

"Yes ma'am it is."

"Oh you will love it there Hyacinth, students come here to hang out from time to time, you will love it here."

"Thank you ma'am."

"Call me Elaine, it'll be just a few minutes before the cafe opens, very soon my son Ben will be coming out of the back."

She went back to the back rooms.

"I'll be right back."

Mildred followed Elaine to the back rooms.
