Monday Morning
Elsie's POV
"Elsie, baby you over slept. get up and get ready for school." Mom said shaking. I groaned and waited for her to leave my room before getting up. I walked down the hall to my brothers room to make sure he was up, then it hit me. He moved out with my dad. MY PARENTS ARE GETTING A DIVORCE. But know I didn't shed a tear, I actually kind of smiled. No I'm not evil. Yes I still care. But, now I can sleep at night with out being scared, for me, for mom.
I did my morning routine and met mom downstairs. "Here's lunch." she said handing me my lunch bag, "I also put a pack of oatmeal and an empty bowl in there if you wanted breakfast." "Thank you." I said as we walked out the door. I checked my phone when we got in the car. "So Kathy said we are going out for dinner tonight and Thursday so me and you can got any other day. And when it comes to meeting his daughter we should do it any day but Friday and definitely not Saturday. Remember Saturday I have a competition and if I don't like her I don't want to be mad or stressed during the competition." I said. "Okay. Good Point. How about I make dinner tomorrow and invite them?" She asked. "That will be fine. I understand that I have to deal with her if everything goes good. But mom how long have you and dad been doing the whole divorce progress?" I asked. "Honey to be honest.. Eight months. We have been going slow. Before then I knew he was cheating on me and he knew I knew. But he continued. I met Bradley, my boyfriend, in the Walmart parking lot two years ago when some guy tried to still my purse. We remained friends but I grew feelings for him but I never cheated. His daughter goes to school with you maybe you know her but you will figure out tomorrow. Bye sweetie love you!" she said as we pulled up to the school. "I love you too." I said as I got out the car.
I texted Bo's mom on my way into school. She said she would pick me up after school since I said I really needed to talk to her. When I get in the school everyone was on their way to class or their locker. "Hey Jess. " I said. "Hey Girl. How was your weekend?" She asked. "Good it could have been better but Chelsea ruined it." I said. "Chelsea who? And how'd she ruin it?" She asked. "Dance team Chelsea. Bo had games at concord this weekend and every time she seen us alone she would come intrude in our space so we could never talk. I didn't even tell him bye before he left. To be honest I haven't talked to him since yesterday." I said. "So.. that's the guy she was talking about in PDT'S group message.. wow. She said that she missed him and planned on seeing him again sometime soon." Jess said. When she said that I have no clue what came over but I was angry. "She will see him but I guarantee he wont be there for her." I said. "Okay.. you're pissed.. Well my weekend I met my dad's girlfriend. She seems to be nice." She said. "That's good." I said, "Parents got a divorce. Mom has a boyfriend." I said. "Ohhh. when are you gonna meet him?" She asked. "Tommorow." I said just as the bell rang. Everyone rushed to class.
All day Chelsea has been giving me evil looks. I dont have any kinds of practice today so I rushed to my locker to put my books up. As soon as I arrived at my locker Chelsea was standing there. "Can I help you?" I asked as I opened my locker. "Yes, you actually can. You can leave Bo alone. you're a Freshman. He does not want you. Better yet you're black. Consider this a warning!" She said before walking away. I hurried out the door to Kathy's van.
"Honey are you okay? Why are you crying?" She asked as I shut the door. I put my seat belt on and told her everything as she drove to her house to wait for Jay to get off work. "Ohh my! I'm so sorry. Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?" She asked. "No ma'am y'all have ben so kind already. I can't see myself asking for anything." I said. "Baby don't you worry you're little heart. You are already like a daughter to us. We just love doing things for you! You help us not feel old. You don't know how much we thank God for letting you walk in our lives when you did. Please never feel or say that you're a problem to us." She said. "Yes, Ma'am." I said as we pulled into the drive way. "Look Sean's home." She said getting out. "I'm going to take a nap before dinner." I said going to Bo's room. "Okay sweetie. I will wake you when Jay gets here." She said.
