"Come on Jayne, it's time to wake up. There are a couple of very special people that want to meet you!" Jayne was vaguely aware of someone saying her name and running their fingers through her hair.
Jayne opened her eyes still groggy from the anesthetic, slowly becoming aware of her surroundings she looked up at the love of her life.
"Hey sweetheart, how are you feeling?" Chris asked placing a gentle kiss on Jayne's head.
"Groggy and sore but I'll be fine. How did everything go?" Jayne asked holding Chris' hand.
"Everything went perfectly. You are safe and well and so are my two new favorite people!" Chris exclaimed with a giant smile.
"They both made it?" Jayne asked.
"Of course they did. The doctor is going to bring them up just now, he was waiting for you to wake up before bringing them into the ward." Chris said drawing lazy circles on Jayne's arm.Just at that point Dr. Lam and one of the nurses came into the room holding a little bundle of blue and a little bundle of pink.
"Baby Deans this is your mummy and daddy!" The nurse said carefully placing the bundle of pink into Jayne's arms.
The doctor placed the blue blanket into Chris' arms.
"The special baby care ward is sad to see them go! They were calling them Prince and Princess Ice down there." The nurse said with a smile.
"Oh god, we haven't even thought about names yet!" Jayne said.
"Don't panic! We have plenty of time to find the perfect names for our little royals." Chris said looking down at the little baby in his arms."How are you feeling Jayne?" The doctor asked checking her vitals.
"Slowly getting there, I'm slightly sore but nothing major," Jayne said smiling at the doctor.
"Will you get some pain relief for Jayne? Nothing too strong. I'm sure she wants to remember the first day in her new life." Dr. Lam said to the nurse.
"Thank you, Doctor, for everything," Chris said shaking his hand.
"I'm just doing my job, Mr. Dean. I'll leave the four of you to spend some time together." Dr. Lam said before leaving the private room.~~~~~~
Chris was lying beside Jayne on her hospital bed, with Jayne curled into his side. They were in total silence watching their new babies sleep.
"I can't believe they are finally here! We finally have our perfect family!" Jayne said putting her head on Chris' chest.
"I know! Four girls and four boys, what are the chances of that? We officially have a football team!" Chris said laughing.
"No chance mate!" Jayne said playfully slapping Chris on the chest. "Do the others know yet?" Jayne asked.
"Yeah, I called them earlier when you were still sleeping, is that alright?" Chris asked.
"Of course. Why wouldn't it be?" Jayne asked.
"I just thought maybe you wanted to speak to them," Chris said.
"I'll phone them tomorrow. I just want to relax with you tonight." Jayne said with a contempt sigh.
"They want to come and see you tomorrow if you're up for it," Chris said.
"Really? I would love that! I miss them all so much." Jayne said with a big smile.
"So what shall we call our latest football players?" Chris asked.
"I honestly have no idea! I would like one of the middle names to be Betty, it's such an important name in both our lives." Jayne said deep in thought.
"What about 'Nelly Betty Dean'?" Chris said with a grin.
"Piss off. I know why you want to call our poor daughter 'Nelly'. And I am not having her go through what I went through!" Jayne said with a serious face.
"Ok, what about Ellie?" Chris said thinking.
"Hmm. Ellie Betty Dean. I like it! Now for our little prince." Jayne said.
"Let's play a game for this one. Let's say the first name that pops into our head and whichever one we like better can be his name." Chris said.
"That's a great idea. Ok, ready?" Jayne said.
"One."
"Two."
"Three."
"Callum!"
The pair just looked at each other in amazement.
"Now, that was weird! We really do know each other inside out!" Chris said.
"I know! At least we don't need to fight over his name." Jayne said with a laugh.
"I think his middle name should be George, for your dad," Chris said.
Jayne's eyes started to fill.
"Well, Sam has Colin and it feels right to have your dad in there as well," Chris said holding Jayne tight.
"Oh Chris, thank you! He will be so pleased. I can't wait to tell him." Jayne said kissing Chris.
"Do you have to go home tonight, or can you stay with me?" Jayne asked snuggling further into Chris' side.
"The nurse said I'm allowed to stay. So, I will stay tonight and go home tomorrow afternoon and pick up the kids and bring them in, is that alright?" Chris asked squeezing her shoulder.
"That's fine, I just don't want to be alone on my first night with the twins," Jayne said closing her eyes.
"Tell you what, why don't I sit here until you fall asleep then move to my own bed to give you more room," Chris said stroking Jayne's arm.
"I'd like that. I love you, Chris, more than anything in the world." Jayne said giving Chris a long passionate kiss.
"I love you too. You are my world, my everything." Chris said looking deep into her eyes.Chris stood from the bed to sort the sheets and blanket, and to let Jayne get into a comfortable position. He decided to change from his jeans into a pair of joggers while in the bathroom. When he came back he saw Jayne sitting on the edge of the bed looking in the mirror at her bandaged up scar.
"You ok, hun?" Chris asked folding his jeans.
"Fine, just thinking about our miracle babies," Jayne said with a smile.
"Come on, it's been a long day for both of us, let's get some sleep," Chris said.A nurse came in to take the twins to the nursery.
"You both look exhausted." The nurse said with a smile.
"Yeah, Jayne more than me, an early night for both of us I think," Chris said.
"Last one for a while." The nurse said.
"Thanks for reminding me," Jayne said.
"Goodnight Mr. and Mrs. Dean." The nurse said with a soft smile.
"Goodnight." Jayne and Chris said in unison. The pair got into the small hospital bed and cuddled close to each other.
"I can't wait to get the twins home and start our life together," Jayne said breaking the silence.
"I can't wait to see the kids faces tomorrow when they come to see them," Chris said.
"I can't wait to see them, I've missed them so much it's unbelievable," Jayne said resting her head on Chris' chest stifling a yawn.
"You are shattered. Come on get some shut-eye before our hectic day tomorrow." Chris said kissing Jayne's temple.
"Goodnight Chris. I love you. Jayne said.
"Goodnight Jaynie. I love you too." Chris said.
