Reyna's POV

My first class was Language Arts, which I shared with Leo, Piper, Jason, Travis, Thalia, Calypso, and Katie. Oh, and that girl Emily.

Travis and Katie still weren't speaking to each other. Travis tried talking to her a few times this morning but she brushed him off. I felt a little bad for Travis since I knew he liked Katie, but at the same time, he did her dirty. He kind of deserves it. The first (and last) time he pranked me was a few days after the war. I was staying at CHB, helping clean up the wreckage and working with Annabeth and the rest of the Athena cabin to create an easier way to travel between the two camps.

To be honest, I was kind of liking this whole "school" thing. It was nice to take a break from my hectic life for once. It makes me laugh when I hear people say that high school is the worst thing that's ever happened to them. They act like they've never been separated from their family and almost died fighting two wars. But I guess if you aren't a half-blood, you need some petty teenage drama to keep your life interesting. Speaking of drama...

That girl, Emily, definitely like-likes Percy. Right now, she was doodling what looks like an anime drawing of a shirtless Percy, carrying her. I can't tell if that's sweet or creepy. How could I tell that she liked him? Well... I was in her place not too long ago. There. I admit it. I had a crush on Percy Jackson. Can you blame me? Just look at him. Though after I learned the harsh truth that Percy and Annabeth were going to be together forever, I reminded myself that there are plenty of fish in the sea. And I learned that I really like this one fish named Thalia. Oh, and Percy chews with his mouth open. I can't stand that.

Not much happened in homeroom. It was the first day of school after all, so it was mainly just being introduced to your teachers and classmates, and getting used to the new atmosphere. After the bell rang, we all filed out of class. Emily was just a few steps ahead of me, so I decided it would be nice to get to know Percy's other friend.

I tapped the girl on the shoulder, startling her a bit. She pulled down her headphones and turned around. "Oh, hey! I recognize you. You're a part of Percy's mysterious friend group, right?"

"Yeah, I'm Reyna. Nice to meet you! We didn't get a chance to talk much."

"Reyna! What a pretty name. I've always found mine kinda boring. Just plain Emily. I wish I had a name that meant Queen. Shall I address you as Queen Reyna?" She wiggled her eyebrows, then a split second later her face flushed and she buried it in her sweater sleeves. "Oh my God forget I said that."

I giggled. "That actually wouldn't be the first time someone has addressed me as royalty." I put my hand on her shoulder and she looked up at me. "And for what it's worth, I like your name. Emily is derived from the Roman family name, Aemilius. They were a very powerful and persuasive family."

"Well, considering I am the founder and president of the Debate Club, I guess that's a good thing." Emily flashed a smile.

The bell for second period rang.

"Who do you have right now? I've got Trigonometry with Ms. Greengale." I said, gathering the books from my locker.

"Select Ensemble with Dr. Schiller. I'll see you at lunch, then?"

"You know it, Queen Emily."

Her face flushed again and we parted ways.

Leo snuck up behind me and rested his elbow on my shoulder. "I think she's gay for you."

"And I think you need to shut your mouth, Leo." I slammed my locker shut.

With that, I strode off in what I hoped was the direction of my second-period class.
