I've never been on an airplane before. So when I had my first panic attack right as I approached our seats, it really sunk in. I ended up meeting the pilot and the co-pilot so that I would feel comfortable and understand the make shift of the plane but even that wasn't good enough so I resulted in taking a sleeping pill.
At one point I was even escorted to a private part of the plane where the seats had enough leg room and the cushions were comfortable. I was too tensed to take notice of the luxaries that came with this part of the plane nor how expensive this seat must have been.
Because money wasn't something I tossed around carelessly. As I sat there, tensed, and clenching my tangled up hands in my lap I thought about Milo and how I just wanted to see him one more time. Just one more. I thought about bath time when he was a baby and how wide-eyed he used to be when I put bubbles in his bath waters.
I thought about his art works from school that always warmed my heart because even though I couldn't quite make out what he was going for, just the thought of him thinking of me brought joy to my heart. I thought about all the love Milo felt for me and tried to embody it until I fell asleep. And yet, sleep act like it didn't want to come, I was just too deeply disturb by fear. That is until I felt soft lifts on my forehead. I sighed at his familiar scent.
I peered my eyes open at the sight of Jason taking a seat next to me. He takes my hand into his own, pulls out his phone, and proceeds to go through it. I hadn't talked to Jason much lately even though I'd just made up my mind to try to further our relationship. However, Jason extremely busy around the office and was never in a good mood.
I ran back and forth from both companies that I've seen him walking around snapping at people, showcasing frustration and many more problems that showed his frustration. I heard from Candice that a shipment went wrong and that someone was trying to sue the company. A lot of problems arose from out of the blue that Jason had to attend to single handily. I continued to stare at him with bewilderment which he notices, cause he eventually looks up from his phone.
"Close your eyes and try to get some sleep. I'll be right here when you wake up. I promise I won't let anything happen to you."
It was a promise he couldn't exactly keep especially if the plane were to plummet straight into the ground, we would all most likely die. But it was the seriousness behind his voice that made me trust him.
He kept his word. Eventually, I fell asleep with his large hand engulfing my own with thoughts of him lingering on my mind. When I woke up he was still holding my hand while he was on the phone. He briefly glanced at me with a soft smile before standing up. We didn't seperate until we exit the plane. At that point, I was ready to kiss the ground but too many people were already looking at my wobbly legs.
Me and Candice were currently standing behind Kevin who was checking into his room. "What should we do tomorrow? Check out the city? Oh, drinking! let's check out a club. Wait how about drinking and clubs? You know what while we're here we might as well try drugs."
"CANDICE!" I exclaimed. "Girl I'm talking about weed. Unless."
"No," I snapped. "Besides," I looked down at the brochure that was hanging up in the lobby. "Tomorrow night is the banquet. We can't be out all day." She rolled her eyes.
I checked in then Candice checked in, thankfully her roomw was two doors down from mine even though I can see her sharing the same space as me. She comes over to my apartment all the time, eats up my food, sleeps on my son's bed, and wears my clothes. In their family, because they're married it's normal for them to live together in the same overly large house well into their late twenties. Candice was only 22 and was definitely not permitted to leave. Most kids in the family were liable to an inheritance.
