I woke up to some weird sounds. Aiden was whimpering in his sleep. Oh god, he is having a nightmare... at 11:00 AM...

He was thrashing around and was mumbling in his dream.

"No"....."Please"....."Stop"

I took his face in my hands.

"Aiden! You are okay" I said shaking him lightly.

"No..." Aiden mumbled still asleep.

I shook him harder.

"Aiden! Baby wake up. It is not real. It's all a dream." I said.

He jolted awake, panting. His chest rising and falling. He had sweat on his forehead. Aiden pulled me to him and put his head on my shoulder. I kept saying sweet nothings in his ear.

"Shhh, You're okay" ..... "It was all a dream"..... "I'm here with you"....."You are safe"

I just held him for a while.

"He had a belt. It had spikes on it. Every time he used the belt, it felt as if I was going to die. I could take everything, but not the belt. And he used it more than once a week. He made me feel so weak. He broke me." Aiden said his voice cracking in between.

As much as I wanted to know who this man was who hurt my Aiden so much, I know that he is not ready to tell me. And I'm sure he will tell me eventually.

"He is not here now. You are safe. You are safe with me." I said running my fingers through his hair.

"Kitten P-please don't leave me," he pleaded "I need you."

"I'm not going to leave you Aiden" I said and softly pecked his lips.

"Can you read me something?" He asked me.

"Last time I read something, a kissing scene to be precise, you kissed me... If I read a book about murder, are you going to murder me?" I asked in a teasing tone.

"Oh you should read 'fifty shades of gray' then," Aiden said with a cheeky grin.

I smacked his shoulder playfully.

"How does reading calm you down?" I asked him.

"Um..." Aiden mumbled.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I understand." I said quickly.

"No it's okay," He said.

"About 5 years back, I lived in 'Kindred Spirits Orphan Home'. My episodes back then were way worse than now. So I was kept away from other kids there, and I liked it like that. I did not want people to see how broken I am. I used to sit in my room all day.

The only people I talked to were Hunter and one of the girls in the orphanage. Her name was Sophie and she was 15. She was rebellious. I never told her about my past. And she never asked. She was like an older sister to me.

She always read the Harry Potter books to me. And just like that, I used to get lost in the world of my imagination. It helped me. It helped me take my mind off the things I had been through.

So this is why it calms me. It helped me then and it gives me hope that maybe someday I'll be okay."

I'd love to meet this Sophie someday...

"Of course you will be okay baby, I promise." I said and ran my fingers through his hair.

"I might be if you stay with me." He said.

"I won't leave you until you ask me to leave" I said with a smile.

"Promise?" He asked.

"Promise" I said.
