Liam

"What do you mean someone broke into her house?" Liam growled, his cerulean eyes flickered with amber specks, with demanded ferocity. His inner wolf already desiring to seep through.

"It means what it means," Stiles said, his brown eyes rolling at the melodramatics of a young, confused teenage Sophomore. "Jesus Christ, as in- someone -a culprit- broke into her home through a window or a door and wreaked some havoc-"

Scott interrupted, shooting the hyperactive teen a look to tone it down, "She's fine."

Stiles grumbled, "I was gonna get to that part."

However, the True Alpha merely shrugged off his best friend. "Really, Liam. If you're worried then just talk to her right now." He amended, setting a warm hand on his Beta's shoulder. "Whatever it is, we'll keep her safe."

"Right," Liam nodded, "We'll keep her safe. I'll go check up on her then." He briefly returned his Alpha's reassure hand before heading over to Carter and Mason.

From a distance, he could hear Stiles comment, "He's almost as bad as you were for Allison." Slight disgust in his tone.

But the Beta smirked as Scott retorted, "Oh? And how about how bad you were for Lydia huh?"

There was a muted 'Shut up' that ended that conversation as Liam made it to his girlfriend and best friend.

"Hey guys!" He greeted, his automatic response to put an arm around the petite brunette.

Mason looked slightly concerned, though that might've been prior to Liam arriving. "Hey, man," The taller teen responded, before turning back to Carter, "So, you're sure you're alright?"

The copper-haired teen glanced at her, awaiting at answer. Any sort of discomfort and he was sure to comfort her. His protective and instinctive lycan nature augmenting that feeling. He listened for any sort of irregularity in her heartbeat.

"Yeah," There was a slight skip- a lie. "Don't worry, Mase. I'm fine." She answered with a small smile, her eyes flickering to Liam briefly.

"I'll see you lovebirds later." Mason smirked at the pair before going off to do some newly given homework or to his own boytoy.

With an open time after school to do whatever they liked before practice started, Liam and Carter chose to just talk. From what he could see, she wanted to. Needed to. Whatever that home invasion included seemed to have left his girlfriend emotionally drained.

Her usually bright features looked paler, dark circles ringed her eyes from the probable lack of sleep, and she even looked at war with herself. If that made sense? She just looked conflicted.

They sat at a relatively empty bench. She leaned into his side, her head on his shoulder.

Silence.

Though he patiently just waited beside her, keeping her close, in case she wanted to talk. "Hey. . ." He murmured, his lips briefly brushing stop of her head before settling comfortably to accommodate her leaning on his shoulder.

She responded, "Hmm?"

"If you needa talk about this. . . Well, I'm here, okay? I know what it's like to feel scared. . . But I'll -um- protect you." He said quite solemnly.

It took a while for the words to register, he guessed. But he soon felt her warmth leave by a fraction as she lifted her head to meet his eyes.

"It's just what happened felt freaking terrifying, Li. I didn't know what was going on. All I knew was someone was in the house, my sister was yelling, and then Officer Fletcher's telling us that he'll make a report about this and keep an eye out for the guy who did it. But Jesus, it was- it-"
