I could not go one morning without coffee. I sipped it slowly as Sean was fixing a car in the garage next-door. The client just left the car there with the cash, unlike Pedro and Y/n, who actually started a conversation with Sean and got to know him first.
As I finished the coffee, Sean came back in and checked the fridge for some food. He was always hungry in the mornings, it always made me wonder how he sometimes didn't go without food on the way to Mexico. I peered over his shoulder to check for food too, as I was getting peckish, but the fridge was empty.
Sean stood up and closed the fridge door and looked over at me. "Once you've finished your coffee, walk with me?"
Soon after, I put my empty coffee cup on the side and we left the car repairs. The day was hotter than usual, it was lucky I wore light clothing today. We were silent for a couple of minutes before Sean sighed and spoke.
"Are you still thinking about the idea that Y/n has some sort of power?" He asked, his eyes focusing on the ground in front of him and not choosing to look at me as I pondered in thought.
"I mean, it's not impossible. Look at me, for example." I answered, laughing a little at my own joke, though Sean was not in the mood for my random antics. "We always thought that I was the only one out in this world with an ability, but what if we're wrong? There could be others in different towns, countries, continents even."
Sean acknowledged this with a slight dip of his face. He scratched the back of his neck as if he was stressed about this whole situation. Well, who wouldn't? To be honest, I wasn't sure why I wasn't freaking out too.
"Would she have the same power as you? Like moving a glass and smashing it on the ground?"
"Who knows?" I muttered, walking into Sean as he stopped dead in his tracks. I took my hands out of my pockets and frowned. "Dude. Move." Sean didn't respond. I looked over his shoulder and immediately noticed what had caused him to freeze in his movement.
What was originally a well-done food shop, was now half crumbled. It was like half of it had fallen down or collapsed, and everything near that area looked like it had exploded. Buildings that surrounded the food shop on the right were blown to smithereens. People were either lying on the ground or running around injured and screaming. "What the fuck happened here?"
The smell was foul. It was the smell of sweet food, mixed with smoke and other less desirable mixtures. I didn't know what to make of it. I hadn't seen a massacre similar to this since when I destroyed the police cars to cross the border into Mexico. I could only think of one cause for this, and it wasn't me.
Then I saw her. On the ground, face down in the gravel, was Y/n. Sprawled out on the floor like a doll. She didn't look injured, and from the looks of it, none of her bones were broken. There wasn't even a scratch on her. Without thinking, I rushed over to her and lifted the upper part of her body up to check her. How could this have happened? Why was she here on her own? Where was Pedro? I was finding all of this hard to process. Some gravel was stuck to her, but it wasn't lodged. Her eyes were shut and she seemed to be breathing normally. I glanced around, everyone else in the area looked... dead.
I heard Sean's footsteps race over to me. He bent down to my level and held Y/n's head in his hands. His face was absolutely shocked, even terrified. I gave her to him and got up to look around. There must be evidence of what happened. Near to Y/n, I noticed one bloody body near a broken-down wall. From what I could tell, he looked a lot like one of the guys from the beach. Why was this fucker around, let alone near Y/n?
Sean picked up Y/n in his arms and looked around, not knowing what to do. His eyes met mine and I just stared at him. My voice was croaky as I tried to speak. I glanced at her as she was limp in my brother's arms, and I felt so sick to the stomach to see her like this. She shouldn't even be here on her own.
Regretting to say it, I gulped down a lump in my throat as I tried to speak once again. "I think she caused this."

Y/n García
"It's lovely to meet you, Pedro." A woman at a desk smiled sweetly at the strange man on the other side of the room. Nervous, I clutched my bunny tightly in my hands, scared of what was about to happen. "It's okay Y/n." I looked up at the woman who was glancing down at me with love.
I tried to get confidence from her and looked at the man again. He had dark skin, with white frizzy hair, very similar to his white beard. He had darker freckles and a comforting grin. I loosened my grip on my bunny as I stared in awe at the man who looked very excited for some reason.
"Y/n." The woman sat next to me said, "This is Pedro, he's your new father." I looked up at her with wide eyes before I curled up into a ball on the chair. "It's okay. I've had a couple of chats with him, and he is funny and nice. I think you'll love him! He's from Mexico, I've heard it's lovely \/.!"
I didn't know where Mexico was, but it sounded like an amazing place to go. I was immediately won over, and I joyfully kicked my legs out in excitement. I hadn't had a proper home for ages, I had been in foster care for two years and I didn't have a proper sixth birthday. To know I finally had a home was...
It was incredible.

I was sat in the backseat of Pedro's truck, holding my Bunny's hand in case it was scared. This was overwhelming for both me and him, and I wanted to make sure he wasn't afraid or feeling alone at all.
I watched out the window as the cars and people flew by as we drove down the beautiful streets of Seattle. The sun was shining and I had to squint my eyes to look up at the blue sky. For the first time in a while, my smile was genuine, and I felt happy within myself.
Pedro peered at me through the mirror and grinned kindly. "Are you having fun back there?" He asked politely, but in a manner that brought my attention to him. I nodded enthusiastically and continued to look out the window. Pedro laughed and returned to his driving. "We're almost home."
He was talking to me so calmly, and I felt bad how I hadn't spoken a word to him. I should say at least one word. What should I say?
I tried to clear my throat, and I smiled up at him when he checked on me again.
"Thank you Papa!"
"For what?"
"For giving me a home."
"Don't worry about it." He grinned, "And if you're okay with it, you're no longer called Y/n Liddell."
"What will I be called now then?" I tilted my head with confusion.
"Now that you're my daughter, your name will be Y/n García."
I gasped with awe as I loved the name so much. I glanced down at my bunny and kicked around excitedly. "I love it!"
