For the rest of the day, Umi just grinned and bared it. At night, she didn't even attempt to sleep, she just pretended then went upstairs onto the deck, and went and sat on the railing of the Going Mary. Even if she couldn't swim, she loved to watch the moon lit ocean. The brown haired girl was very tempted to fly above the sea and just feel free. That was until she heard a sound. She was startled, so she whipped around into a fighting stance. She lunged at the person, failing to realize there were no enemy ships so there were no intruders. When she came to her senses, she realized that the person she thought was an enemy was truly Sanji. She relaxed and lowered her hands.
"Sanji, why are you up here? Shouldn't you be sleeping?"
He pulled his infamous cigarette out of his mouth, "Shouldn't you ask yourself the same question?"
"Well I already know why I'm up here, I want to know why you're here." The dragonette gave him a sly smile, trying to mask her fatigue.
Sanji gave her a defeated look, raising his hand in a fake surrender. "Ok, guess I'll tell you then. I'm awake 'cause I'm making sure Luffy hasn't raided the fridge in the middle of the night; now it's your turn to talk." Umi calmly looked out at the dark horizon.
"I'm out here to watch the moon lit water. It's been awhile since I've done it; I absolutely love the night and the reflections of the sea." She spoke in a sincere voice. Technically it's not a lie, it's just half of the truth.
"I can see why, the view is just as beautiful as you." Sanji looked over at Umi, a sly grin on his face. Umi gave him a shove, but she couldn't hide the smile creeping up on her face. But, even with the flash of that sweet smile, Sanji still knew something was wrong.
"Well, as long as we're up, why not have a midnight snack?" The blonde asked, hoping to maybe coax more information out of the young women. Umi gave a sigh.
"I might as well. And now that you mention it, I am a bit peckish." She started walking towards Sanji's second home before she her him chuckle. She looked back in confusion, "And may I ask what's so funny?"
"Who in the hell says 'I am a bit peckish' anymore?" The smoker asked, quite amused.
Umi's joy changed to irritation with the question, but for no real reason.
"Someone who feels like actually being creative with their way of speaking that's who." With that, the brunette walked right to the kitchen.
'What was that about?' Umi thought.
'What was that about?' Sanji wondered.
"Well, this might not be as easy or pleasant as I thought it would be." Said the blonde as he entered the new emotional battlefield formerly known as the kitchen.
