TRIGGAR WARNING: Anxiety, panic attacks, problematic family, depression, self hatred.
AN: Soooo I am rereading this and it kinda looks like the message that boys feelings are more important then girls, which is absolutely not true. Here's the thing, this was originally going to be a book about Jiro, but then it kinda went to Kaminari because I like Kaminari better then Jiro because I can relate to him more. I just love angsty Kaminari ok? Ok. And honestly I'm not a huge fan of this fic looking back on it so if you could just click off without reading it that would be great. 👍
Jiro ran a brush through her hair roughly.
Stupid hair!!!
She looked into the mirror at her unblended concealer and messy eyeshadow.
Stupid shaky hands!!!
She looked down at her brand new girly-girl sandals.
Stupid uncomfortable sandals!!!
Jiro kicked off the shoes.
I try and look good and I end up even worse!!! There is no winning here!!!
"Kyoka!" her mom called, "It's almost time for school! Are you coming?" Jiro groaned and flopped on her bed, covering her face with a pillow. He heard her mom knock on the door.
"Come in..." Jiro said, her voice slightly muffled by the pillow. She heard her mom open the door.
"Honey, what are you doing?"
"Trying to look pretty." Mrs. Jiro sat beside her on the bed.
"It's one of those days?" Jiro hummed into the pillow. Mrs. Jiro sighed.
"Well tomorrow I can do your makeup if you want, but it's too late now. If you have any on then wipe it off, get on your shoes and try making your hair at least presentable." Jiro waited until her mom walked out of the room to get up.
One of those days. That's what her mom always called it. One of the days she felt like laying in bed and not eating anything. One of the days she could barely look in the mirror without crying or getting angry. One of the days she tried in vain to make herself look pretty by spreading makeup on her face. One of the days she went through all of the past insults people had said to her, trying to decide what to fix.
It was just one of those days.
Jiro went into the bathroom and began wiping off all of her makeup, using water and a brush to try and smooth out her hair. Straightening her uniform nervously, pulling on her combat boots (cuz Jiro is a bi queen) and heading downstairs. She ran through the kitchen and out the door.
"Love you mom! Bye!" and ran out down the street before her mom could offer to drive her.
Jiro's feet bounced on the ground, her bag slamming against her back. Her long broken-in boots were easy to run in, and in about 5 minutes she was in front of the school, out of breath.
"Jiro!" Jiro turned to see Kaminari running towards her. He bumped into her shoulder playfully. "Hi! Good morning!"
"Oh, morning." his smile disappeared. Kaminari tilted his head and furrowed his eyebrows. His concerned expression reminded Jiro of a puppy. Cute...
"You look sad." Jiro quickly flashed a smile.
"Of course not! I'm fine." Kaminari still looked concerned. Jiro sighed.
"Come one idiot, we're going to be late for class." Slight disappointment flashed in Kaminari's eyes, but then he smiled so happily Jiro was convinced she imagined it.
