Scott huffed out a puff of air as he pulled out a tray of fresh-baked sugar cookies from the oven. He placed the tray on the counter top and look down at them to admire his hard work. He picked up probably the biggest cookie and brought up to his mouth to blow on it so that he wouldn't burn his tongue. But then, before he could take a bite, Kirstie sauntered in from the living room and casually stole the cookie from Scott's hand. She ate it right in front of him, earning a pout from the blonde.

"Oh my gosh, these are delicious!" Kirstie said, savoring every bite.

Scott chuckled slightly, running a hand through his hair. "Are they really? I wouldn't know." Kirstie playfully stuck out her tongue at him. Scott rolled his eyes.

He grabbed another steaming cookie from the tray and this time turned away from his friend so that she wouldn't. "Now let's see if these taste as good as they smell!" He slowly bit down on the cookie, tearing off more than half of it and spilling some crumbs on his shirt in the process. He hummed quietly as he chewed. "I love it!"

"Yeah, you really outdid yourself this time!" Kirstie remarked, already going for another cookie.

Ever since Kirstie broke up with her boyfriend four months ago, her and Scott developed a ritual that involved going to one other's apartment every Friday to hangout and and possibly get drunk. Scott has been single since the dawn of time so it worked out for the both of them.

Today, they were actually sober. It was Valentine's Day and they were currently at Kirstie's apartment. Despite the both of them not really being fans of this holiday, they decided to be a little more festive and made cute Valentine sugar cookies and then sit down to watch movies on Netflix.

They had Silver Linings Playbook on and Kirstie watched intently as Scott absentmindedly scrolled through his Instagram. He just posted a picture of him and Kirstie enjoying their festive cookies in the kitchen and it was aready starting to get likes.

One like did get his attention though for whatever reason. It was from Mitch Grassi, his old best friend from high school so many years ago. They followed each other on social media sites but the both of them didn't make too much of an effort to keep in touch. That's almost strange to think about because back in high school, they were almost inseperable; but then everything changed when Scott and Kirstie graduated in 2010 while Mitch was still a junior. They moved to Southern California to hopefully pursue careers in music and acting and then when Mitch finally graduated, he stayed in Arlington to focus on his art despite also being well rounded in music. For the first year, they Skyped every week but then he and Scott got busier and pretty much stopped talking altogther except for the occasional like, retweet or comment.

Out of curiosity to know how Mitch was doing, Scott tapped on Mitch's name to see the photos on his profile. The most recent one was from two days ago and it was just a selfie of him just grinning at the camera and his hand up in a peace sign. He looked so much different than he did in high school that Scott had to double check that it was actually him. Back in school, Mitch was as thin as a rail and almost hairless, but now he'd put on a healthy amount of weight and he seemed to be growing a little bit of scruff. He also had a backwards snapback on which he did whenever he didn't feel like doing his hair, so not much has changed. But still, Scott thought Mitch looked great and double-tapped the picture. He immediately scrolled to see the next photo which was from two weeks ago.

In this one, it was a sunny afternoon and Mitch was leaning against a car with his hands in his pockets with a big smile on his face. He was wearing a floral collar shirt buttoned to the top with a gray acid washed denim jacket over it, navy blue skinny jeans and sunglasses to finish the outfit. Scott found it hard to believe that Mitch looked even better in this picture. He double-tapped it without a second thought. This time he read the caption that went with it.
