"Mitch, you literally look like you're about to burst. What's got you so excited?"
"Scott's taking me out tonight, how could I not be excited?" Mitch answered, bouncing on the balls of his feet. Kirstie rolled her eyes and firmly placed her hands on his shoulders to steady him. Mitch just giggled. "Sorry, I'm just giddy."
Kirstie chuckled in response.
She and Mitch standing in the hallway at Scott's locker. The five minute warning bell just rang and Scott hadn't even arrived yet. Normally the blonde is always at school early.
"Speaking of Mr. Right, where is he?" Kirstie asked, scratching her head.
Mitch simply shrugged and placed his hands in his jean pockets. "I have no idea. He said he'd be a little late this morning so I'm just gonna wait for him."
Kirstie peered at the brunette with an arched eyebrow. "And if you're late?"
Mitch just laughed with a wave of his hand. "I think I care more about my boyfriend than a tardy mark."
"Suit yourself then," Kirstie said. She swung her backpack over her shoulder and swiveled on her heel. "I'm going to study for my chem test. See you and Scott in choir."
Mitch nodded in her direction as she began to walk away. He leaned back on Scott's locker with a thud. He released a sigh he didn't realize he was holding. He hoped Scott was okay wherever he was.
Mitch didn't want to be having such negative thoughts so he starting trying to guess where Scott would be taking him today. It was always a surprise with him, ever since the day they got together. He imagined him and Scott having dinner at some fancy restaurant and enjoying food that was probably worth more than they were.
Mitch was awoken from his thoughts when, five minutes after the tardy bell, he heard footsteps coming his way. He bit his bottom lip in fear that it might be a teacher. Getting a detention on today of all days would be the worst possible thing.
Mitch's fears were relieved when he was greeted by the familiar face of his boyfriend Scott who then snaked his arms around the brunette's waist, pulling him into an embrace.
"Where were you?" Mitch asked after pulling away.
Scott's face suffused with color and he looked down at his shoes for a few moments before returning his eyes back to Mitch.
"I just had to pick something up," Scott said simply.
Mitch eyed Scott suspiciously but soon enough, his gaze softened. He seemed to buy it for now. Scott wasn't technically lying, he just wasn't being specific.
"We're still on for today, right?" Scott asked.
Mitch nodded eagerly, "Yeah! One-thousand percent!"
Scott grinned down at his boyfriend. "Let's get to class then, yeah?"
Mitch responded by interlocking his fingers with Scott's and looking up at him with a knowing smile.
Scott and Mitch walked into the classroom side by side almost ten minutes after the bell. As was expected, all eyes were on them. Some smiled and others had looks of disgust on their faces. The teacher looked at the two students and shook his head with a sigh but said nothing.
Mitch took his usual seat in the second row while Scott took his in the fourth row. The brunette looked back at the blonde with half lidded eyes and a sultry smile. Scott blushed and bit his bottom lip, looking away. Mitch chuckled to himself and turned back to face the front of the class. He couldn't explain how much he enjoyed having that much power over a guy like Scott.
