Author's POVThe brakes gave out a shrill earsplitting sound as it came to a halt. Mia could already smell the ocean, which was great 'cause she wanted to swim. "Hey Mia,..." Ugh Diana. Why can't she just leave me alone? Mia rushed out of the bus to get as far away from Diana as she can. As she observed the place, she couldn't believe she was going to be stuck in a place like this. "This is it?" Mia tried to remain unnoticeably depressed. This place looked like a junkyard. Trash scattered everywhere, the tin of the house in front of her were rusted and it looked as if the house was about to fall apart. "Oh no...this is where we wait for our ride to paradise." The unexpected voice behind her caused her to jump. "Whoa there, be careful...you might..." Mia met the eyes of the most handsome boy she'd ever seen. He had the hair of a surfer, broad shoulders, skin perfectly tanned, jeez...he looked like the angel warriors you see in fantasy movies. "Uhh...Hi, I'm Lucas, but you can call me Luke for short...ummm...is this your first time here? I don't think I've seen you around here before." Not only does he look like an angel, he sounds like one, too. Tender and cool.
Wait! She can't like him. No, not happening. She already made a vow that she'll never like another again. But how will she stick to her promise when the guy in front of her is so HOT? He'd never like a girl like her. Which wasn't a problem because that's just what she wants and exactly what she needs. "You don't need to know anything about me. When is this ride coming anyway?" Mia asked. Pretending not to care and stay cool. Lucas shot up an eyebrow and replied, "Mmmm...right...about...now." Mia turned to where the sound of engine approaching them. She reached for her bags and containers and struggled to get them on the boat.
"Let me help you." Luke held out his hand. " Thanks, but I can do it myself." " Alright, shoot yourself." Luke responded and head towards the boat.
Why does the new girl look familiar? Luke thought as he helped others get settled in the boat. "Dude, who's the newbie?" Luke's best friend, Jake asked. Luke and Jake has been friends since they were just toddlers. Jake was like a brother to him and always had each other's back. "Wouldn't say her name." Lucas replied. "She seems nice though."
It took about fifteen minutes to get to the island. Just looking at this island made it all worth it.
This Luke dude did really meant it when he said this place is a paradise. The sand beamed great white like a river bed of cream and the water glistened like diamonds. The cabins were aligned beside the waters and the trees parallel to the shore. In the center of the island stood a opened spacious area where the cooks will prepare our meals. The whole premises were tidy and clean. Everyone were playing volleyball, basketball, soccer, swimming, while others sat or helped the staffs with their work. Mia was definitely in the mood to play volleyball and soon take a dip in the waters. She took her belongings into the cabin she hoped to spend the whole week in for it had extra space and a balcony in the back. After setting her stuffs in, she headed out into the area. She was having the time of her life and forgot about why she was depressed in the first place. After a great game of volleyball, Mia decided to take a stroll around the island. When she looked on her left where the boys played basketball, she suddenly remembered how Sky would make a shot and never miss.
Flashback
"This one's for you babe." Sky made a shot and Mia stood up and praised him. "Keep it up and you'll become the next Michael Jordan." Sky chuckled at the compliment. " Thanks babe." At that, they kissed happily before walking towards Sky's car. "Mia, You know I love you right?" "Of course, you remind me everyday...and I love you, too."
Mia found herself in tears after remembering that day. When she looked up, the hot guy was sitting calmly and played with his guitar. As the sunlight beamed behind his head, it made him looked like a model. Mia looked away as if seeing unforeseen things. She didn't want to like him and she wasn't about to allow herself to.
