Fiona Rose

"I'll get the money I promise." The once brave girl, tall and strong said scared and weak.
"You better get it now!" He spat.
"Work at the palace for all I care but I'm done!" He grumbled before passing the pills in my hands. He put his hands in his jeans and walked into the darkness. I looked in my hands. I looked the other direction where he walked, ready to run home.
~
"Here." I smiled passing my mother the glass of water.
"Thank you darling." She croaked. Her pale skin was more wrinkled and the bags under her eyes showed more. I sighed before getting up.
"I'm gonna go tomorrow." I said as I walked to the kitchen.
"Where sweetheart?" My mom asked before taking her pill.
"To the palace. I'll work there, I can ask Julie's mother to come check on you since she owns the bakery." I informed as added the salt to the soup.
"No your only seventeen Fiona." My mother worried.

"But mother, your ill and I must help! I'll pay for the house more, and get the treatment you'll need! And you said you were the best there, they will take care of me if they knew you!" I smiled. But she gave me a worried look.
"It will be okay. I'll be back in no time." I said placing a plate on her tray. She still had the worried and scared look on her face.
"Mom, I won't leave."
"I'm not worried of that." She croaked.
"Mom I'll be fine. You'll have Maria, and Julie to check on you. The bakery is just across the street! And I know the palace is a place you worked in, I've learned my skills from you! It's far, I know, but ill phone you. I'll send the money so you can buy your pills." I showed a toothy smile.
"Fiona...fine." She huffed. Making her cough. I worried expression landed on my face.

"Rest mom." I slightly smiled. I handed her a pillow and rest it under her Neck. I took the slightly finished soup and put it in the sink.
"It's now or never Philip." I said to the cat on the counter.
"She'll get better." I said hopefully, but all the cat did was meow.
"Ya ya, your milk is at the door step. Now shoo." I tapped the cat laughing.

I looked back to my mother on the couch who was sleeping restfully. I smiled as I made my way to her, as I tucked her blankets around her. I turned off the small tv before heading to my room.

I promise I will get something better than this dump. I'll help her. I'll help us.

To work,
I will go.
