The Alpha

I was helping Caroline prepare for the Miss Mystic Falls pageant at the Lockwood Mansion when I felt a hand land on my shoulder. I spun around, ready to attack whoever was behind me but I relaxed when dark blue eyes met mine.

"Easy love, it's just me." He smiled.

I ignored the hybrid and turned back around, reading what else I had to do from my clipboard. "I'm busy, what do you want?"

"I was wondering what time I should pick you up tomorrow."

I stopped reading, but didn't dare to look up again. "How about a quarter to never?"

I knew he got closer towards me when his warm breath touched the back of my neck. "That's not the deal we made, love."

I hesitantly turned around, making eye contact. Only now, I realised how close he really got, our bodies were almost touching but I still didn't take a step back. I searched his eyes and saw he truly meant what he said and wanted to take me out on a date. However, I wasn't gonna go down this easily, I was still mad at him but I knew I had to compromise.

"Come on, love. I know you don't hate me. After all, I'm the reason you turned your humanity back on."

"Miss Mystical Falls pageant, 2pm." I stated before beginning to walk away.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Brooke."

I stopped walking and smiled to myself before continuing to walk away.

"Hi, everyone, I'm Caroline Forbes."

As Caroline started her speech, Klaus joined my side for our 'date'.

"As the reigning Miss Mystic Falls, it is my honor to introduce this year's Miss Mystic Court."

Everyone clapped for the girls at the top of the stair case.

"We begin the procession with Valerie Fell accompanied by Dylan Clark."

While Caroline was announcing the girls, Elena walked over to me, worried.

"Have you heard from Jeremy?"

"No, why? Did something happen?"

Elena sighed. "He's been having dreams about killing vampires. He's meant to be here with April and he's not even answering his phone." She ran her hand through her hair. "I have a bad feeling."

Caroline and Damon also joined us. Caroline was also curious where Jeremy was since he was meant to be an escort.

"Hey, what's with the last minute escort change? Where is Jeremy?"

Damon rolled his eyes. "Do the math. Emo teen, open bar, it's fine."

Damon saw the worried looks on both mine and Elena's face and decided to add another comment. "Relax, I'm sure he's fine."

"Then why don't you go look for him? You know, to be sure." I suggested.

Damon narrowed his eyes at me but gave in. "Fine, I'll go."

"I'll be right back, love." Klaus whispered in my ear.

I nodded, letting him leave.

Damon and Klaus have now both left, leaving just me, Caroline and Elena.

Caroline diverted her attention to Elena. "Okay, you go home, I'm gonna start asking around here."

"I'll stay around too." I added.
