Emily POV:

I heard muffled crying coming from behind a tree at the park. I was meeting Kelley, Rose, Sam, Lindsey, and Mal here for a picnic. I walked around the tree, and saw a girl about 14 or 15 with her head in her hands, and her back against the tree. I don't think she saw me though. I decided to walk over to her.

Y/N POV:

I heard footsteps crushing the leaves. I didn't move thinking they were just passing through, but they stopped next to me. I heard someone sit down next to me and hug me. Their hug felt amazing. I looked up and saw her. EMILY SONNETT?! There was no way I was seeing this right. "Hi." She said with her beautiful smile. "He-hello." I said trying to catch my breath from crying. "I'm Emily. Are you alright?" She said still holding me. "I know who you are. I'm Y/N. I watch your games all the time. I feel like I let my team down. It was the championship game, and we went into PK's. I missed mine; making the other team win. I was crushed. College coaches were there. My team saw it happened. I let everyone down Emily." She looked shocked. Did I do something wrong? 'Great. I scared her.' I thought.

Emily POV:

"I know who you are. I'm Y/N. I watch your games all the time. I feel like I let my team down. It was the championship game, and we went into PK's. I missed mine; making the other team win. I was crushed. College coaches were there. My team saw it happened. I let everyone down Emily." She told me. I didn't know what to say. The poor girl didn't do anything wrong. It happens to everyone. I guess she doesn't know Jill and Alex were there. I wasn't gonna tell her that though. I finally thought of something to say. "Y/N, you didn't do anything. It happens to everyone. It happened at the 2016 olympics to Christen. Yes it upset her, but she moved on. You'll have other opportunities. Coaches aren't gonna judge you on one PK. Trust me. And your team isn't mad at you. They're upset that y'all lost. Which is totally fine. It was a team loss. Not a Y/N loss. Alright? You're gonna be okay. I'm meeting some of my teammates her for a picnic. Wanna join us and then let me take you back to your hotel with your team? Trust me, smiling and having fun with them will let them know you've moved on. Even if you haven't." I can't believe I just said that. I'm usually the jokester on the team. Not the motivator. I smiled at her, still holding her. I understood that she just sat there staring at me. I wouldn't know what to say either after that.

Y/N POV:

Trust me, smiling and having fun with them will let them know you've moved on. Even if you haven't."  She said. I couldn't think of what to say. Finally I just blurted something out. "Thank you. I really appreciate it. I would love to join y'all." I said smiling and wiping my tears away. I joined them and then they took me back to my hotel. Emily gave me her number and told me to text her whenever I wanted. I gave her one last hug before saying bye and walking into where my team was. I texted her later that night after going back to my room with my teammate for the night.

Emily POV:

I gave Y/N my number and told her to text me when she needed. I got a text around 10:30 that night. "She texted me Lindsey!" I yelled excitedly at Lindsey. "What did she say?" She replied laughing. "She said: 'Thank you Em. Seriously, I couldn't be more appreciative of you and your teammates. I hope one day to come back and see you whether it's in Portland or after you won a massive tournament. I love you.' And then she sent a heart emoji!!" I told Lindsey smiling. "Well reply then Sonnett! Don't leave the poor girl on read." I nodded and texted her back, basically saying not to thank me and I'll definitely go see her. I ended my message off my saying I love you back and sending a heart emoji also. I was so happy. I have a new best friend.
