"What are we doing today for Algebra?" I asked one of my closest friends. We walked through the halls, passing all the other students trying to get to their classes.

"Math stuff," Miles stated nonchalantly.

"Of course I know that, dimwit," I laughed hysterically, earning a few looks.

As soon as we got to class, I sat down on my assigned seat and started to stare off. I fantasized about what I'm getting for Valentines - if I'm even getting one at all that is - today.

In my dazed state, I didn't notice one of the popular guys get up and talk to me. Everything was blurry and my hearing was kind of hazy. I kept nodding to everything he said even though I couldn't clearly hear what he was saying. At last he asked the last question and that's when I said 'no' just to make a difference with the answer I gave him.

"Oh," he said dejectedly. "Um.. Ok. I'll talk to you later, maybe. Here," he handed me a red card with he-

Hearts.

Oh dear lord.

I shook my head to focus my eyes and ears from the haziness. Valentine's card. I looked over at him with regret. He looks really unhappy that I said no. His frown looked really cute on him but I'd never admit anything like that in front of them.

I opened up the card to find hearts all over and right on the center were the words,

WILL YOU BE MY VALENTINE?

P.S. By valentine, I mean girlfriend ;)

One of my best friend asking me to be their girlfriend and I just rejected him. I panicked and jittered through the remaining of class.

45 agonizing minutes later, I was finally out. I had to tell someone before I start hyperventilating. Miles!

"Oh god! What do I do?" I asked Miles as soon as she got out of class.

"What?" She asked, looking really confused.

"Daniel!" I hissed quietly. I looked back behind me to find him walking with his head down. Oh men, could my life get any more worse? I forgot I had him for second period and he sits two seats right behind me.

"What about him?"

"He just asked me out."

"Wait, what?!" Her eyes widened. Breaking out of her shocked state, she said "aw! That's so cute! I know you like him too so what's the problem?"

"I said 'no,'" I whispered blushing.

"Why would you do that?!" She slapped me repeatedly on the arm receiving a few weird looks.

"You think if I explain it to him, he'll understand?" I was hopeful. Very hopeful that he'll understand.

"Maybe," she shrugged.

I sat down in my seat as soon as we got to second period. I turned to take a glance of Daniel. He had his face buried in his face. Normally, I'd see him laughing with his neighbor but now he was just quiet.

Ugh! What the hell did I just do? I need to fix this soon before I really can't have a chance with him. I turned back around and shuffled through my things to look for a paper.

Psst! -K

I crumpled the paper up and threw it at him. He lifted his head up from his books and looked around for the culprit. When he didn't have a clue as to who threw it, he opened up the paper and read it. Quickly jotting something down, he threw it back to me.

Hey :) -DJ

Fake smile. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the smiley face he drew.

I'm sorry :( I really didn't mean to reject you. -K

It's fine :) I completely understand that you don't like me like that. I mean you're one of my best friends and it'd probably be awkward by then if we ever dated. -DJ

I stopped for a minute to comprehend what he's saying.

No! I meant that I'd love to date you. I only rejected you because I was dozing off in class again and you know of all people that I always do that. Everything was unclear to me until you gave me the card, which by the way was really cute and sweet. So I'm hoping the offer of being your valentine is still up. -K

He was quick to respond because as soon as he finished reading the note, he yelled out, "YES!" He got all the students' and teacher's attention.

"Boo!" I yelped in surprise as Daniel rounded the corner of the table to hug me. "What are you thinking of, babe?"

"Oh," I blushed when he asked. "Um... When I rejected you on Valentines Day."

"Oh that day," he laughs, making me blush even more. "I still remember it like it was yesterday."

"I'm sorry about that," I stared up at him through my eyelashes and smiled sheepishly.

"It's fine. At least I have you now and that's what matters most. Plus, that was like 10 years ago." Daniel gazed at me lovingly. "I love you."

"I love you, too."

Short but I hope you guys like it :)
