"Morning," Daniel mumbled, rubbing his eyes like a little kid. He came up behind me and kissed the nape of my neck as I cooked his breakfast.
"Morning." I replied, concentrating on my cooking.
"Do you want to go out to dinner tomorrow?" He asked, his eyes still closed and his smile in tact.
"Sure, but I'm still mad at you. Now get off me so I can put this on your plate," I said, gesturing to the pan with sizzling eggs on it.
He chuckled then removed his arms from around me and sat down.
"What's your plan for the day? Unless, ignoring me is one of them then don't answer at all." I took the seat in front of him and began eating.
"Babe, I wasn't ignoring you. I was just busy with things," he explained, putting his fork down and looked at me straight in the eyes.
"Things like what?" I prodded and continued to eat. I was seriously getting worried because he's never done this before. Avoid me for days. Today's the only day he's actually showed some affection after our last date.
"It's nothing to worry about," he dismissed.
"Of course it's something to worry about! You've been avoiding me for the past week!" I stood up and stomped to my room.
I might've been a little over dramatic but I didn't care. He should know that he's making me feel scared just from his actions. I was hoping he would follow me but I guess my expectation was a little too high.
I quickly changed into my workout clothes and ran down the stairs.
"Where are you going?" Daniel asked, blocking me from opening the door. His arms were crossed against his chest.
"It's nothing to worry about," I told him, mocking his exact same words from a few minutes ago.
"C'mon, Kath," he said apologetically, "I'm really sorry. You'll know soon I promise."
I waved my hand in front of his face, not really in the mood of arguing early in the morning. I stepped away from him and opened the door. I got into my car and drove off to the closest gym. I didn't even bother to kiss him.
As soon as I got there, I went to the punching bag sections. Jabbing at the heavy bag, I imagined Daniel's face. Then another came into view, but this one was of a female's. More specifically, Daniel's ex.
We had bumped into her when we went to get groceries and she knew exactly how to push my buttons because she was shamelessly flirting with my boyfriend. And he didn't even do anything to stop them at all! Gosh, she's infuriating. I didn't want to think the worst of Daniel but seeing him laughing together with that fly made me jealous.
I punched the bag harder as if she was standing right in front of me. The adrenaline flowed through my body like fire. Sweat dripped on my arms and face. As I threw another punch to the bag, two feet approached me and I knew exactly who's they were. I didn't look up. I continued to punch instead.
"Babe," he whispered. I ignored him just like how he ignored me for the past week. "Oh, fuck it!" He yelled as he got down on his knees and hugged my sweaty body.
"Kath, look at me. Please," he begged. He lifts one of his knees so that he's only on one. By now, people from the gym had their eyes on us. He grabbed something from his pockets and lifted the small red box. My eyes grew wide instantly and urged him to get up. He stubbornly shook his head and said, "see this ring? I bought it as soon as I can because I realized that I needed to put a ring on my girl before it's too late. Like how I was about to lose you just now. I knew that if I delayed it any longer, you'd leave me and I don't fucking want that to happen."
